Team Louisana Scout Day: Quick Hits

Alex Armand
Louisana Scouting Director

ALEXANDRIA, L.A.- The Team Louisiana Scout Day took place on Sunday October 18, 2020, at LSU-Alexandria.  The event featured over 40 prospects from all high school classes. We continue our post event coverage with a look at few standouts from the scout day.

QUICK HITS

Owen Schexnaydre RHP / 1B / Vandebilt Catholic , LA / 2022

Standing at 6’3” 250 lbs, the physical two way player had a really good showing at the event.  Hitting from an athletic, upright stance, Schexnaydre posted the second highest exit velocity at 96 mph, showing present pull side power.  On the mound, he posted an event best 87 mph FB, but what was most impressive was his ability to pound the zone with multiple pitches.

Tate Hess RHP / 1B / Singer, LA / 2023

Hess was another physical two way player that had a great day at the Team Louisiana Scout Day.  The physical right handed hitter consistently squared up balls during the BP session; posting an exit velocity of 88 mph.  On the mound, Hess posted the second best FB velocity at 86 mph.  The RHP showed a short, quick, and efficient arm action with a repeatable delivery.

Lane Felder 3B / RHP / Zachary, LA / 2022

Felder was one of the more impressive all-around athletes at the event; running the 3rd best 60 yard dash time at 6.88.  Hitting from a slightly open, balanced set-up, Felder really used his lower half to produce an event best 96 mph exit velocity.  He will be an uncommitted name to keep a close eye on as we move closer to the spring high school baseball season.

Lane Patin SS / 2B / North Vermilion , LA / 2022

Much like Felder, Patin was one of the best athletes that we saw over the weekend.  He posted an event best 6.78 in the 60 yard dash.  Defensively, Patin showed above average hands and good footwork, playing through balls really well.  Hitting from an athletic stance, using a modified leg kick, Patin consistently squared up balls all over the field during the BP portion of the event, posting an 86 mph exit velocity.

Carson Carey C / RHP / Airline, LA / 2022

Hitting from an upright, open stance; Carey had one of the loudest BP rounds, producing the 2nd best exit velocity at 95 mph.  Carey also showed off his defense behind the plate by posting a 2.00 pop time, that produced a 72 mph arm velocity.
