+ Coppell: The Cowboys have been trending upward all year, moving into the rankings in week 2, and steadily making the climb from 22-8-7-6-5-4, and now to No. 2. They have won 12 in a row and 13-of-14 after going 3-0 last week, outscoring opponents 36-6.

They have now won 16 games in a row with two wins over Birdville last week, they are also in sole possession of first place in District 8-5A since Grapevine dropped a game last week. One of the biggest matchups of the year takes place in two weeks when the Panthers and the Mustangs go head to head.

ON THE RISE

+ Keller: The Indians jump up to No. 17 after going 8-0 in District, 18-4 Overall with a huge two game sweep over crosstown rival Timber Creek.

+ Kerrville Tivy: They went 2-0 last week with wins over Medina Valley and Marble Falls to move to 10-1 in district and 22-4 Overall. Huge game on Tuesday night as they host No. 22 Boerne Champion.

+ Katy Tompkins: The Falcons were on the bubble last week, but they earned their way into the ranking this week at No. 25. They play in a very competitive league and are now 9-1, 20-6 Overall after going 2-0 with wins over Morton Ranch and Mayde Creek, including a win over Katy earlier in the year. One of the closer district races in 19-6A, with 4 teams still battling for the title over the last two weeks of the season.

ON THE BUBBLE

Take your pick now, because there are plenty of teams that could be in the discussion. Cypress Fair is 19-8 and sits atop their district with two weeks left in the season after taking two games from Langham Creek last week. Coach Cornblum’s Waco-Midway club is now 21-7 after taking two games from San Angelo Central and one from Belton last week. Dallas Jesuit is now 21-6 with their only conference losses coming at the hands of Coppell earlier in the year. Round Rock is 21-5 after taking 2 of 3 from Hendrickson. Klein Collins is 19-5 and play in one of the toughest districts in the state. The Georgetown Eagles have locked up the District crown in 19-5A by winning 16 games in a row to post a 22-7 overall record. In 4A, Godley is 17-1, while Boerne is 20-3-1. The last two weeks of the season will tell us a lot. Good luck to everyone on finishing strong.
