By: Diego Solares
Area Scout, Illinois & Missouri

With the year coming to an end, our staff is taking some time to highlight and reflect on the most viewed profiles in Missouri throughout 2022. We’ll be working our way to the top spot, starting with No. 10 earlier last week and working our way down, releasing the most viewed name on New Year’s Eve.

Our profiles serve as an all-in-one platform for players, hosting vendors such as verified stats, event video, contact information, and more. To create a free PBR profile, click HERE.

Checking in at No. 4 on our ‘End of the Year’ countdown is C/RHP Evan Damario (Rockhurst), who’s committed to Mizzou and is one of the state’s top 2025 prospects. Damario’s a name we’ve become increasingly familiar with over the years, and a productive 2022 campaign has him trending upward into the new year.

Damario represented Team Missouri at the Junior Future Games in 2021 and attended multiple events this past February, including the Preseason All-State, which came a few days prior to his commitment. He impressed as one of the top prospects in attendance:

Positional Profile: C/RHP
Body: 5-11, 174-pounds. Athletic build with present strength.
Hit: RHH. Starts with a neutral stance with an athletic posture and hands getting set at shoulder height. Strong rocking load into the lower half.  Knee knock leg lift stride with good balance and control.  Loose hands with good bat speed.  Level bat path and a line drive approach with good extension and hands working inside the ball well.  Shows some strength at contact.  Maintains balance well throughout the swing.  Lower half works rotationally through the zone into a firm front leg.
Power: 88.7 max exit velocity, averaged 72.8 mph. 254’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 77 mph. INF - 83 mph.  High 3/4 arm slot with a short arm action.
Defense: Behind the plate receives the ball a traditional set up and limited body movements.  Quick release on throws to second with lower half working in good direction to the bag.  Throws had good accuracy to the bag.  Shows good hip flexibility and upright posture on blocks.  In the infield attacks the ball with lateral routes and a feel for glove action and soft hands.  Shows the ability to field the ball on the move well and has clean and quick exchanges.
Run: 7.61 runner in the 60.

Delivery: Short and simple footwork around the rubber working to an easy pivot foot.  Works to a high balance point with weight leaning slightly back onto the heels.  Uptempo pace to the delivery.  Hand breaks from the glove at the top of the delivery with a high glove front side.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the slope with good momentum headed towards the plate.
Arm Action: RH. High 3/4 arm slot with a short arm action.
FB: T85.8, 84.9-85.6 mph. Mostly straight shape with good riding life through the zone. T2224, 2065 average rpm.
SL: 64.8-67.3 mph. Heavy downward depth with strong action. T2048, 2002 average rpm.
CH: 72.0-74.0 mph. Feel for command with straight shape and some downward depth. T1901, 1808 average rpm.

Damario’s talents translated to the spring season, where our staff saw him toe the rubber and close out a key game for his Rockhurst squad. He earned a mention within our spring ‘Scout Blog’ as a result:

“...Damario closed this one out with poise beyond his years. The advanced athlete jumped on the mound and attacked the zone with a mid 80s fastball that jumped on hitters. The athletic delivery and exceptionally clean arm action should allow much more velo to come for the Mizzou commit.”

Damario popped up on our radar at Creekside this fall again, where he continued to improve and impress off our previous looks. He showed easy bat speed from a clean right-handed swing at the plate, staying level through the zone with a clear fluid rhythm. Defensively, Damario’s actions are advanced for his age, and his ability to receive the ball adequately while also boasting arm strength aid his chances of sticking behind the plate long term:

A tireless worker with a competitive motor, Damario’s set to maintain his claim towards the top of this class in 2023 and beyond. It’ll start this offseason, parlay into high school ball, and culminate with yet another productive campaign after the summer circuit.
