Tyler King
Area Scout

KATY T.X.- The final day of the Texas Twelve Scout Day featured a highly talented 2023 class that will likely house some of the state top prospects for the next few years. Although, our day was cut short due to weather here are some highlights from yesterdays action.

Jakob Schulz, LHP, Memorial, 2023
Projectable, athletic left-handed pitcher that has a good understanding of how to pitch at 15. His fastball was 84-88 mph, curveball was 68-71 mph with big, breaking action that was tough on left-handed hitters and a changeup at 73-76 mph with some arm side action. Also featured a quality pick off move.

Gavin Rutherford, RHP, Cinco Ranch, 2023
Fastball was up to 85 mph with some natural cut and a slider that was 74-77 mph with depth and late action, generating lots of swing and misses on it.

Landon West, C, Katy Tompkins, 2023
Physical catcher frame with a solid lower half and blocked the ball well with a 2.15 pop time to 2B. Plenty of room to develop, has a high upside as a backstop and hitter.

Blake Mitchell, C, Sinton, 2023
Mitchell is a premium defender behind the dish. Receives, blocks, and throws at a high level. During the game he had a pop time of 2.02 with an accurate throw. His bat plays as well, didn’t have results in the game, but the swing works from the left side.

Sam Myers, OF, Cypress Woods, 2023
Myers is an athletic, left-handed hitting outfielder that has a smooth swing with good extension and ability to hit to all fields.

David Carrillo, LHP, Katy Tompkins, 2023
Carillo has a clean motion with good balance and threw strikes with three pitches, mixing them well.

Kyle Kubichek, C, Bryan, 2023
Kubichek is a small, athletic catcher that receives the ball well with clean actions and good arm strength.

Landry Hamm, IF, Ridge Point, 2023
Hamm is an athletic infielder with good action defensively and hit the ball well to the pull side.
