Top Prospect Games 6/19/18

Pickford is 6-5 with an athletic frame that still has projection to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a very short, loose arm action that is very quick, generates velocity with some effort. Simple delivery that is repeatable, lands slightly open with a square finish. Fastball was 85-87, touching 88, with some downward plane and late run to it. Curveball was 71-72 with sharp 10/4 break and good armspeed, swing and miss pitch that gets good depth.

Preseason All-State 2/17/18

Pickford is 6-5 with an athletic frame that still has projection to it. Throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a very short loose arm action that is real quick and some effort. Shoulders are uphill and on line, lands square with an athletic finish. Fastball was 85-88 with downward plane and some late boring action to it. Curveball was 69-72 with some armspeed and later hard 12/6 break. Change-up was 78-79 with good armspeed and some run.

PBR Future Games 8/2/17

Lanky and projectable frame at 6-foot-4, 180-pounds. Has a compact controlled delivery with some tempo. Average leg kick with some backside intent through finish. Glides downhill, can get inconsistent with hip load at times. Short quick arm action throwing from a high three quarter slot. Creates fast arm speed pitching with regular effort. Fastball has slight run later up to 86 mph. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape with shorter action. Gradual break now, potential for more later action as currently he slows down on the pitch. Change up has fade at 75 mph. Great foundation and more in the tank for this prospect and should be an interesting follow.

6.25.17:  Pickford has a tall lanky frame that is projectable. Throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a very short backside arm action, quick arm and throws with some effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders level and on line, strides to a square landing with a hard fall off and recoil. Fastball sat 81-83 in one outing, 78-81 in a second, some late run and sink to it. Curveball had sharp 11/5 break, ran 63-66, threw it with some armspeed. Chang-up has fade and some armspeed, doesn’t use it in game.

7.31.16:  Pickford has a lanky 6-3 frame and throws from a low three-quarters arm slot. He has a drop and drive delivery and a shorter, loose, quick arm action, throwing with normal effort. Shoulders on line and level, slightly open landing with a fall off finish. Fastball sat 76-77, touched 78 with some late run. Curveball had sharp 11/5 action and was 66-68.
