2023 shortstop Riley Smith (Urbana) has cemented himself as one of the top uncommitted talents across the Old Line State. The speedy 6-0, 180 pound Senior clocked a 6.78 60-yard time at our Preseason All-State in February, and showcases the ability to impact the game consistently in the run game. At the dish, the hands work quick, creating some loft to both gaps with carry to the alleys. The approach is consistent, staying within himself with strong line drive tendencies to the middle of the field, creating solid extension through contact. The power numbers continue to increase, as body mass is added to the frame. Defensively, Smith is a center field profile and projects to stay there at the next level. Utilizing his above average speed, Smith can really run it down in the gaps and showcases quick instincts in multiple facets. The arm strength is solid (82 mph) and showcases some carry on throws to home.

An impact player in every facet of the game, Smith is a top of the lineup profile at the next level and looks the part to make an immediate impact wherever he decides to commit.
