Scouting Report

2/19/22

Physical: 5-foot-10, 175 pounds; Average, wiry build. 7.33 runner in the 60.

Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; upright bat position. Drops hands on the way back with an up and down stride for timing. Slides weight forward pre-contact. while showing a strong lower half. Showed a flat swing path with a finish around the back.  More flyballs than line drives and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 91 MPH via Trackman.

Defensively: Starts with a compact setup; utilizing a traditional primary position while staying low during receiving. Hands are soft with a seamless transfer. Short take back from a high 3/4 arm slot. 2.10-2.25 pop times. C - 72 MPH. INF - 75 MPH.  In the infield, starts in a low to the ground stance and walks into ready position. Plays well laterally with good actions to the ball. Fields out in front and transfers cleanly. Works a moderate arm action and throws from a 3/4 slot.

2/07/21

Physical: Lean and athletic 5-foot-10, 165-pound frame with compact strength. 7.11 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Slightly bent, open stance as the hands start out over the plate as the barrel points upward. Utilized a short lift and replace stride with a slight arm bar in the attack yielding loft in the swing while packing a punch through a flat path with lift after impact. Stayed behind the ball well with whip out towards the front of the plate, pull-side approach with a bat-exit velocity peaking at 89 mph bat-exit velocity. Generated a 46% fly ball rate playing into the approach with an interesting power ceiling (20 G’s of rotational acceleration) down the line. A developing 66% on plane efficiency points towards increasing bat to ball skills at the plate.

Defensively: The primary catcher showed a traditional setup in the crouch flashing developing receiving skills with a soft glove hand. Pop times ranged from 2.02-2.08 with quick transfers and immediate straight line footwork out of the crouch (73 mph arm strength). The middle infielder liked to approach the ball on time at the fielding window with the left foot allowing for rhythm across the diamond. Liked to funnel and break the hands, throwing from a moderate takeaway down by the waist. Up to 68 mph with accuracy on the bag relegating him to a second base position at the moment, though the movements play at a quality level.

6/15/20

Physical: Stocky, physical 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame with some strength in the movements. 7.58 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH. Tall, even stance with slight barrel movement at the ear in the setup. Utilized a toe-tap stride with sink into the lower half and a deep hand load to create stretch upon launch.  Displayed a slightly uphill barrel path into the hitting zone with occasional pull-side lift during batting practice. Showcased hard contact when getting to the ball at the front of the plate. Hit into a stiff front side yielding an 83 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball.

Defensively: The primary backstop featured a moderately low setup and adequate receiving skills beating the ball to the spot with a soft glove hand. Pop times ranged from 2.15-2.28 using short straight line footwork and a quick release from a short, high ¾ arm-slot. Moved well laterally behind the dish with feel for his center of gravity, deadening balls over the plate with recovery ability. C - 68 mph … The middle infielder featured a low center of gravity and quick lateral movements arriving to the baseball on time with a soft glove hand through the fielding window. Adequate footwork and repeatable transfers allowed for an accurate throwing arm across the diamond and made the play on the run with relative ease. Projects better at 2B at the moment. SS - 74 mph

2/23/20

Displayed feel for a lean and athletic 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame with room to add strength as he matures. The right-handed hitter begins with a balanced, even stance utilizing a deliberate toe-tap stride with advanced lower half sink to initiate his swing. Generated a natural, slightly uphill barrel path through the baseball using an athletic and fluid lower half. Created occasional pull-side lift when contacting the ball in front of the plate. Recorded a 75 mph bat-exit velocity during batting practice and ran a 7.05 60-yard dash demonstrating the feel he has for his current frame. The primary backstop showed off quality receiving ability with a soft glove hand with minimal movement at the catch point. Pop times ranged from 2.11-2.17 on accurate throws of 72 mph from the crouch out of a high ¾ arm-slot. Featured repeatable straight line footwork with fluid transfers yielding consistent throws on the bag. Displayed adequate blocking skills, beating the ball to the spot and creating soft walls with recovery ability on both sides of the plate.
