Underclass Spotlight: Class of 2014 C Tyler Wood from Marquette HS

Tyler Wood (right) is a 6-foot-1, 195-pounder from Marquette HS who showed well as a catcher and in the outfield at the recent Preseason Showcase in St. Louis.  Behind the plate, Wood possesses a quick release and generated 70-71 mph throws to second base with accuracy.  He recorded pop times of 2.15 and 2.17.  As an outfielder, he took quick, natural movements to the ball and delivered 67-68 mph throws with carry.  At the plate, the right-handed hitter has a true power stroke thanks to excellent use of his lower half.  He could be one of the top power hitters in the Class of 2014.
