The Kentucky Unsigned Senior Games Showcase, which gets underway tomorrow morning (Sat, Aug 10) at Northern Kentucky University and runs through Sunday, is full of talented prospects still looking for a collegiate home. In fact, players from five different states will take the field over the two-day event.

On Saturday, Team Black and Team White will get things rolling with extended infield/outfield and on-the-field batting practice for each squad.  The two teams will then square off in a double-header, and the talent certainly won’t disappoint.

The following is a look at just a few of the talented players that will take the field on Saturday.  Several other solid prospects will also take the field Saturday along with this group.  We will take a look at Team Royal and Team Navy, who will take the field on Sunday, in a subsequent article.

Team White will feature a combination of solid arms on the mound as well as position players.

Connor McHugh is one of the top two-way prospects in Kentucky’s 2014 class.  The 5-foot-11, 165-pound McHugh, ranked No.10 in the class of 2014, shows big arm strength across the diamond from his shortstop position at 89 mph.  McHugh also ran a 6.74 60 and showed good bat speed with an 88 mph tee exit velocity.  He will also pitch with a fastball that sits 84-86 mph and a 73-76 mph slider with good bite.

Hayden Ford is a 6-foot-3, 200-pound athletic first baseman from St. Xavier HS who is a 6.87 runner with very good pop in his bat.  Ford, ranked No.41 in Kentucky’s 2014 class, will also likely play some outfield as well.

Cody Kalinowski impressed from the left-side of the plate in June and will also man the first base position for Team White along with Ford.  Kalinowski registered an 88 mph tee exit velocity and made consistent hard contact in game play at the Top Prospect Games Event.  Kalinowski is ranked No. 68 in Kentucky’s 2014 class.

Griffin Neuer is a 6-foot-1, 160-pound OF/RHP with good projectability.  The left-handed hitter ran a 6.89 60 in June with 85 mph arm strength and hit well in game play at the Top Prospect Games.  Neuer is also a solid pitching prospect with a fastball that touched 84 mph (have had reports of 86 mph recently) and solid secondary stuff.  Neuer is ranked No.32 in the 2014 class.

LHP Brandon Eliadis (5-foot-11, 160-pounds, Anderson County HS) and RHP Michael Hall (6-foot-3, 210-pounds, Bryan Station HS) are solid pitchers who will also take the mound for Team White.

Team Black will counter with some talented players of their own.

Noah Sadler, an outfielder/LHP from Mukwonago HS in Wisconsin, is the No.8 ranked player in Wisconsin’s 2014 class.  The left-handed hitter was reportedly clocked at 91 mph from the outfield at the PG National showcase in June and will show a mid-80’s fastball on the mound.  The 6-foot, 170-pound Sadler will show plenty of bat speed and solid hitting tools from the left side.

Mason Forbes (6-foot-1, 170-pounds, Ryle HS) ran a 6.85 at the Top Prospect Games in June and shows good arm strength from the outfield.  Forbes creates bat speed and barrel whip through the zone and has consistently hit for power this summer.  Forbes is ranked No.34 in Kentucky’s 2014 class.

Blake Hart (6-foot-1, 210-pounds, Conner HS) is solid behind the dish.  The left-handed hitting hart has a quick transfer and accurate arm and shows the ability to hit for some power from the left side.  Hart is ranked No.48 in the class of 2014.

First baseman Nick Nonos swings it well from the left-side.  Nonos shined at Bellarmine University in July, showing the ability to consistently square up the baseball and hit to all fields.

Daulton Mason (6-foot, 190-pounds, Lewis County HS) is a third-baseman who showed good power during the spring, clubbing 6 home runs while playing for Mason County.
