Unsigned Senior Games: Corner Infield Analysis

On Sunday, October 19th PBR Indiana hosted the Unsigned Senior Games at Grand Park in Westfield, IN. A total of 54 players participated in the event, including two from Illinois and one from Tennessee. Below we analyze the corner infielders that participated in the event. 

Top Ranked Corner Infielder

Mason Bruce, 3B, McCutcheon HS, 2015: 5-foot-10, 170 pound 3B showcased athletic actions defensively with soft hands and a clean exchange.  Showed good body control with the ability to throw from multiple angles.  Strong accurate arm across the field at 80 mph.  Offensively, hits from an athletic setup with a slightly open front foot.  Smooth load, hands drop occasionally.  Stride is short with good balance throughout.  Bat speed is average with a level plane.  Line drive hitter with gap power. Registered an exit velo of 81 mph.

Best of the rest (In Alphabetical Order)

Jonathan Blackwell, 3B, Castle HS, 2015: 6-foot, 170 pound senior 3B displayed above average hands defensively.  Possesses athleticism with fluid feet.  Showcased some range.  Clean exchange, plays through the ball.  Accurate arm across the diamond at 79 mph.  Ran a 7.39-60.  At the plate hits from an athletic setup with an open front foot.  Smooth load with short stride.  Good balance throughout the swing.  Level swing plane, line drive hitter.  Average bat speed.  Registered an exit velo of 80 mph.  .   

Joey Collins, 1B, New Albany HS, 2015: 6-foot, 185 pound 1B works well around the bag.  Average feet and glove.  Across the field was 72 mph.  Offensively, starts balanced and loads back.  Stride is short with average use of the lower half.  Consistently drove the ball with projectable gap power.  Average bat speed.  Over rotates at times.  Registered an exit velo of 81 mph.  

Logan Gillespie, 1B/3B, Franklin Central HS, 2015: 5-foot-11, 245 pound 1B possesses a big frame with strong lower half.  Moves well around the bag for his size.  Plays through the ball well.  Across the diamond was 72 mph.  At the plate starts in an athletic setup.  Short stride with a smooth load.  Possesses above average bat speed.  Gets to extension consistently.  Hard contact with power potential.  Registered an exit velo of 83 mph.  

Adam Iffert, 3B, Brebeuf HS, 2015: 5-foot-10, 165 pound 3B showcased fluid feet with average hands. Clean exchange.  Fields it clean.  Ran a 6.77-60.  Accurate arm across the field at 76 mph.  Offensively, starts balanced and loads back.  Uses a short stride with average use of the lower half.  Showcased some bat speed and gets to extension.  Line drive type hitter.  Registered an exit velo of 82 mph.    

Zachary Myers, 1B, McCutcheon HS, 2015:  6-foot, 165 pound 1B displayed average hands.  Across the diamond was 59 mph.  Ran a 7.50-60.  At the plate starts balanced and loads back.  Stride is short.  Lacks use of the lower half.  Level path to the baseball.  Contact type hitter. Registered an exit velo of 75 mph.
