Unsigned Senior Showcase: Preview

Annually, right around the start of winter workouts and a few months before the first pitch of the high school season, the PBR Illinois and Wisconsin staffs team up to host the winter’s Unsigned Senior Showcase at The MAX sports facility in McCook, Ill., taking place on Sunday, Jan. 12.
This event is open to any and all members of the Class of 2020 seeking out opportunities to play at the next level who have yet to secure that commitment.
Currently, Sunday’s Unsigned Senior Showcase has around 30 prospects set to attend, and registration is still open. Looking back at 2019’s winter event, 25 prospects who attended that showcase went on to make a college commitment. Click here for a look at last year’s roster.

This week, we’ve been highlighting some of the prospects set to attend Sunday’s showcase, like RHP Blake Oesterblad (Loyola Academy) and RHP Robby Gray (Lake Forest). Oesterblad is a big 6-foot-4 and was up into the mid-80s this past summer. As for Gray, he’s a strong 6-foot-1 who sat 82-84 mph the last time we saw him pitch in August.

Headed down from the Milwaukee area is RHP Charlie Campbell (South Milwaukee), a spindly right-hander. At a thin 6-foot-6, the uncommitted Campbell sat 79-82 mph, touching 83 in the summer, with an advanced feel to pitch showing a mature feel to spin a breaking ball, too.
