Unsigned Senior Spotlight: St. Xavier IF Brandon Blaser

blaser

Brandon Blaser, SS, St. Xavier HS, 2015

Blaser is a 5-foot-11, 170-pound prospect who showed well at the Fall Top Prospect Games event in June at Western Kentucky University.

Defensively, Blaser showcased soft hands with very good lateral movement in both directions at the shortstop position.  He showed good body control to go along with the ability to throw on the move from multiple arm angles while displaying 79 mph arm strength across the infield on accurate throws.

At the plate, Blaser hits from an open stance and gets to square with a short stride.  While he went 0-for-4 in game play, he impressed in his round of batting practice consistently getting the barrel through the hitting zone with quick hands.  In addition, Blaser showed solid bat speed in registering 87 mph exit velocity off the tee and showed some speed with a 4.52 home to first base time.

Blaser, who logged most of his innings at third base for the state champion Tigers last season, could prove to be a valuable asset at the next level with his ability to play multiple infield positions.
