Unsigned Senior Spotlight: Zach Propst (Triad HS)

Zach Propst, MIF, Triad HS

At 5’9 and 160 pounds, middle infielder Zach Propst, has had a recent charge in college recruitment.

In early February, Propst participated in the PBR Unsigned Senior Showcase.  After the event he was ranked the 3rd best middle infielder in attendance.

Propst was very pleased with his performance at the showcase.  “I think it helped me because the video summary of the showcase is on the PBR website for college coaches to see that weren't in attendance.”

The senior, with a 3.71 GAP, has stayed in close contact with Ohio Northern University and Alderson Broaddus but he is keeping his options open for other universities.

“I would like to play at a program where sportsmanship and teamwork are just as important as winning percentages.  I am looking to major in Engineering and would like to attend a college or university where that can happen.”

Here is what PBR has to say about Propst:

He is an athletic middle infielder that registered a 5.11 40-yard dash time on a slow, turf track. In the field, he showed fluid actions and a top velocity of 70 mph across the infield. He likely projects as a second baseman at the next level. At the plate, the left-handed hitter shows a balanced setup with an aggressive approach. He uses his lower half and shows quick bat speed. He is a line drive type hitter with some pull tendencies.

Last spring, Propst had .338 average, 17 rbi’s and 12 SB for Triad.  But, he feels that going 110% every play and every at bat is his biggest strength as a baseball player.

This summer, Zach will play for the Springfield Bulldogs.  They are planning on attending the following tournaments: Kent State-Akron University, Worthington/Phoenix Wood Bat and Buckeye Elite.
