COLORADO POWER 25 RANKINGS (PRESEASON)

Mountain Vista remains No. 1 in our updated PBR COLORADO 2022 POWER 25 RANKINGS.  After a 4-0 Arizona Spring Trip and a 5-0 start in state, they remain undefeated at 9-0. Regis Jesuit (7-1) is off to a great start and moves up to No. 2. The Raiders may have the best 1-9 offense in the state. Heritage moves to No. 3 and Douglas County (7-1) moves up five spots to No. 4. Making the biggest jump is Legacy (4-0) finding the No. 6 ranking after quality wins against Regis Jesuit and Mullen. No. 7 Cherokee Trail will challenge anybody and play a high energy style of baseball. 2022’s Ty Kennedy (Washington St. commit) and Kai Wagner (uncommitted) have No. 9 Legend back in the hunt.  

Mountain Vista has shown strong pitching, defense and is currently averaging 12.2 runs per game.  2022 Tyler Mejia (uncommitted) is back! The uncommitted senior is 3-0 on the mound with a .48 ERA.  Mejia has 24K’s in 14.2 innings of work. He is also putting great offensive numbers hitting .600 with 16 RBI, 6 double and 3 home runs. 2023 INF Isaac (Zeke) Borel (uncommitted) showing middle of the line up numbers .500, 12 RBI and two home runs. 2022 C Blake Young (UCSB commit) is keeping pace with Mejia, hitting .435 with 10 RBI. Young’s leadership is on display behind the dish running the strong pitching staff.  The staff ERA is 2.72.   

Legacy is the biggest mover. After a 4-0 start, they move all the way to No. 6. 2023 Legacy SS Brandon Sanchez (uncommitted) is swinging the hottest bat in the state. Sanchez is hitting .786 with 10 RBI, 2 doubles and 2 triples. This middle infielder has strong defensive skill set and great leadership qualities.  

POWER 25 NOTES

Five teams from the 4A Class are in the updated Power 25, No. 10 Cheyenne Mountain, No. 12 Ponderosa, the hottest team on the Western Slope, No. 14 Palisade, and entering the Power 25 is No. 22 Severance and No. 23 Pueblo Central.

No. 14 Palisade’s 2024 C Brett Rozman (uncommitted) could be the most overlooked player in our state. Rozman's statline: .542, 18 RBI, 4 home runs in 9 games. 

Eaton, hitting .405 as a team with 2.62 ERA and Lutheran, with depth on the diamond, are the two 3A teams represented in the Power 25.

Recent Arizona State commit 2023 RHP Brok Eddy is leading newly ranked Brighton to a 6-2 start.  

2022 twin brothers Nick and Brett Barber make No. 8 Cherokee Trail GO. Scrappy hitters with speed and have a competitive edge.

No. 7 Mullen with a set of DI brothers. 2022 LHP Henry Stewart is committed to play for Santa Clara next year and 2025 RHP Thomas Stewart has made his commitment to Virginia.

PBR Colorado considers teams from all classifications playing baseball, 1A-5A.  These early rankings are compiled with the help from our Colorado coaches from all levels from all around the state. PBR Colorado has used valued  PBR staff, scouts, past and current HS coaches and past and current club coaches as resources.

We also lean on our knowledge of the players we have seen from our events and tournaments from this past year. These rankings stay with the theme of PBR and are prospect driven. We strive to bring state and national recognition for our Colorado players. As the season progresses, the rankings will be more strongly determined by wins and losses and the opponents. Rankings will be updated as the season progresses.
