Updated Power 25

By Chris Fuller
Kentucky Scouting Director

For the fourth time in 4 weeks this season, there is a new Number 1 team in the Power 25 as Mercer County takes over the top spot.

It’s a spot the Titans have earned, coming off a 2013 State Runner-Up finish and beginning the 2014 season with 10 straight wins to sit at 10-0 on the year.  The roster is deep and experienced with all but one starter back from last year’s squad, and it is showing on the field.

Here are a few other items of note.

+ West Jessamine continues its climb up the rankings, now occupying the number 4 spot with 12 consecutive wins to begin the season.  A big 46th District showdown awaits on Thursday with No. 1 Mercer County.

+ Eastern continues to skyrocket up the rankings and checks in at No. 6.  The Eagles have run off 11 straight wins and sit at 12-1 on the season.

+ Bourbon County remains undefeated at 7-0 and occupies the No. 13 spot.

+ North Oldham, winners of 4 games in a row, enters the rankings for the first time this season at No. 23.

+ CAL makes its first appearance in the Power 25, occupying the No. 25 spot at 8-3 on the season.

This week's top 5 looks like this.

1. mercer county 10-0
2. tates creek 6-2-1
3. st. xavier 12-4
4. west jessamine 12-0
5. lexington catholic 8-4
