Another week of action means its time for another update to the Power 25. The calendar has finally flipped to May, and with that brings the final week of action for private schools ahead of the VISAA State Tournament, which begins on Tuesday, May 10. Public schools are also starting to wind down as District Tournaments are just around the corner.

The top of the rankings mostly stayed the same as Hanover and Colgan continued to cruise and Freedom swept its week, narrowly winning its second matchup against Patriot 4-3 to finish 3-1 in District play against Battlefield and Patriot. Highland scoots up another spot as the Hawks win streak is now up to 19 after a come-from-behind win on Saturday over St. Christopher's.

Riverside took the road half of its Potomac District home and home with Independence on Thursday. As a result, the Rams move into the Top 10 and have taken early control of the District ahead of their second showdown with the Tigers this coming week.

In the WCAC, Bishop O'Connell won its showdown with second place St. John's on Friday, giving the Knights the head to head tiebreaker and running their conference record to 8-0 at the time. Paul VI then handed O'Connell its first conference loss on Saturday and the race in the WCAC remains tight between O'Connell and St. John's, with Good Counsel and Paul VI just behind them.

A big mover this week is First Colonial. The Patriots have emerged as the clear-cut top team in the Beach District and are likely the top team in Region 5A. Their close win on Saturday over Lafayette ran their win streak to 11 games, with a rematch against the lone team to beat them this spring, Princess Anne, looming next week. The other top team in Region 6A is also on fire and currently just outside of the rankings, and that is perennial power Western Branch. With the Bruins and Patriots surging, a showdown between the two in the Region tournament is beginning to seem inevitable.

Entering the rankings this week for the first time this spring is Chantilly, which swept its week with wins over South Lakes and Madison and has jumped out to the front of the Concorde District standings having swept its four games against South Lakes and Madison this spring.

Also entering the rankings this week are unbeaten Appomattox County and Christiansburg. The Blue Demons have two losses on the spring but both occurred on spring break to out of state opponents. The Raiders have continued to roll through the Dogwood District, but have an interesting slate this week with Chatham and Dan River on the schedule.
