Douglas Freeman 3, Midlothian 2

Douglas Freeman jumped to an early 2-0 lead courtesy of singles from Trey Shelton (Patrick Henry CC) and Miguel Martin. That lead would stand until the top of the seventh when Midlothian would collect back to back hits to start the inning. The Trojans had the bases loaded with nobody out and Freeman starter Jackson Beale (Mary Washington) would get a 6-3 and a strikeout to keep them loaded with two outs. Beale would then depart, after throwing a really strong 6.2 innings, due to pitch count. Cole Feldman came up for the Trojans and battled deep into a two strike count before singling to center field, bringing home two to tie it up. In the bottom half Freeman would get the first two on and then three batters later, Ryan Bland would walk it off with a single to center field. The Mavericks thrilling 3-2 win will send them back to the state tournament for the first time since 2015.

Glen Allen 12, Clover Hill 0

This one was all Glen Allen. The Jaguars would dominate from start to finish with a combination of masterful work on the mound by senior Jaden Kinsler (JMU), hitting from top to bottom of the Jaguar lineup, and a few too many miscues from the Cavalier defense. Kinsler stole the show on the mound, throwing a shortened five inning complete game and tallying twelve strikeouts along the way. On the offensive side there were a few individuals with a multi-hit game, but it was junior Christopher Johnson who was the highlight reel at the plate. His mammoth grand slam out of right center put the Jaguars up 7-0 in the second and the flood gates opened after that. Final score from this one was 12-0 with Glen Allen advancing to the state tournament in convincing fashion, after being one out away last year.
