Welcome to the VA/DC Scoreboard. This year we will run our scoreboards on Wednesdays and Saturdays. We will always be sure to include scores and brief recaps of games involving Power 25 teams and will strive to get as many of the rest of the scores from the Commonwealth and the District as well.

Hanover 7, No. 4 Deep Run 6

No.5 Grafton 9, Poquoson 2
Junior Tyler Cotten was 1-4 with a home run and 3 RBIs. Zach Wojnarowski (VMI) was 2-4 and Brayden Hodges was 2-4 with 2 RBIs.

No. 7 Cosby 4, Riverbend 1
Senior Andrew Weight (James Madison) struck out 7 in 5.1 innings to earn the win and Zach Hoekstra (Radford) was 2-3 with 2 RBIs.

No. 10 Menchville 8, Lakeland 2
Austin Maxey struck out 6 in four innings of 1-hit ball while also going 2-3 at the plate. Dawson Guzik was 2-4 with a walk, Stephen Cook was 1-2 with 2 walks and 2 RBIs, and Ahmad Goldson was 1-2 with 3 walks and an RBI.

No. 11 Potomac 7, Osbourn 0
Junior Braden Mack struck out four in five hitless innings to earn the win. Ben Thomas was 4-4 with a double and 2 RBIs and senior Julian Cumba was 2-3 with a walk and three stolen bases.

No. 15 Salem (Roanoke) 7, Lord Botetourt 5
Junior Parker Stallard (Virginia Tech) had a home run and Matt Wright went 2-3 with an RBI as Salem stayed undefeated on the new season. Dylan Fralin hit a home run for Botetourt and Kyle Arnholt was also 2-4.

No. 16 Battlefield 8, Freedom (South Riding) 7
Battlefield won an entertaining back-and-forth game on a walk-off wild pitch. CJ Miles had another 3-hit night, coming up a home run short of the cycle and scoring three runs. Peter Benavides was 1-3 with a double and 2 RBIs. Adam Kuzmicki was 2-2 with 2 walks as well for the Bobcats. For Freedom, Casey Cook (North Carolina) was 2-2 with 2 walks and an RBI and Zach Hoenig was 1-2 with 2 RBIs and a walk.

Sam Alswang threw a four inning no-hitter with 10 strikeouts and Chance Legere had a home run and 5 RBIs.

Tuesday 3/19

No. 1 Benedictine 13, St. Anne's-Belfield 0
Bennett Lloyd was 2-2 with two home runs and drove in six runs and Jamari Baylor (Louisburg CC) was 2-2 with a double, stolen base, and 2 RBIs. 

Atlee 4, No. 6 Godwin 3
Atlee jumped out to a 4-0 lead and hung on against a late Godwin charge to win. Hayden Harris, Chad Mick, and Eric Haynes each had two hits and Haynes had 2 RBIs for the Raiders. Sam Essex (CNU) and Bryce Safferwich (James Madison) each had two hits for Godwin.

No. 8 Liberty Christian 6, Rustburg 0
Senior Emmanuel Johnson (Liberty) and three others combined on a one-hitter for LCA. Johnson struck out 9 in four innings and went 2-4 at the plate. Bailey Reynolds and Jacob Williams (Middle Tennessee St) each had home runs and Williams was 2-4 with 2 RBIs overall. 

Bethel 3, No. 10 Menchville 2
Bethel scored two in the bottom of the seventh to upset the Monarchs with the tying run scoring on a wild pitch and the winning run on a fielder's choice. Joel Velazquez held Menchville to 1 run in 5 innings and also drew 2 walks at the plate. Ahmad Goldson struggled with his command for the Monarchs, but only allowed 1 run in 6 innings and Dawson Guzik was 1-2 with 2 walks.

No. 11 Potomac 22, Gar-Field 0
Senior Brody Mack (William & Mary) and Josue Cumba combined on a five inning no-hitter while Mack also had 2 RBIs. Junior Braden Mack was 3-4 with 3 RBIs and Ben Thomas was 2-5 with 2 RBIs.

Nansemond River 1, No. 12 Western Branch 0
Bryson Dansberry (Radford) delivered a walkoff single in the bottom of eighth. A pitcher's duel saw both starters toss 7 scoreless and neither figured in the decision. Antonio Velasquez (Bryant & Stratton) struck out 14 and allowed no hits for Western Branch and Nansemond River starter Caleb Pittman allowed just one hit while striking out 12 in his 7 innings.

Lake Braddock 12, No. 13 Madison 2
Sophomore lefty Michael Weidinger threw four scoreless innings and struck out 4 to earn the win as the Bruins exploded offensively with nine players having hits and four with multi-hit games, including Andrew Schaeb and Jay Cassady who also both had 2 RBIs each.

No. 15 Salem (Roanoke) 19, Patrick Henry (Roanoke) 11
Jaden Fetrow, Caleb Lingenfelter, and Zian Honaker all had three-hit games as the Spartans pounded out 17 total hits and used an 11 run second inning to remain undefeated. Fetrow had 5 RBIs and Matt Wright had 4 RBIs for Salem. For PH, Eric Mandelowitz was 2-3 with 3 RBIs and John Stockstill had 2 doubles and 2 RBIs. 

Maury 7, No. 17 Greenbrier Christian 5
Senior Ben Capehart (VMI) stymied the Gators for five innings, holding them to 2 runs on 4 hits and striking out five. Vincent Bashara worked a scoreless seventh to earn the save. Maury drew 13 walks at the plate, only notching 3 hits, with Capehart having a triple and Kennedy Jones also picking up a base knock. The Gators rallied in the sixth and threatened in the seventh. Ethan Ott continued his hot start, hitting two home runs while also drawing two walks.

No. 23 Midlothian 10, Clover Hill 6
Carter Lovasz was 2-4 with 4 RBIs to lead the way for the Trojans, who only had five hits but drew 11 walks in the game. Corey Adams was 2-4 and Cameron Mazell was 2-3 with a double for Clover Hill.

No. 24 Highland 4, Woodberry Forest 1
Senior Luke Burner (West Virginia Wesleyan) struck out 8 in 4.1 innings to earn the win while Blake Cuddington went 2.2 innings with 6 strikeouts to earn the save while also going 2-3 at the plate with a double. Burner also had an RBI.
