With the playoffs just about fully underway in Virginia, we will begin running our scoreboard daily.

Power 25 Rankings in the scoreboard reflect where a team was ranked at the time the game was played.

VHSL Region Playoffs

Region 1A

Essex 11, Surry 2
Essex used three pitchers in the game and got a balanced offensive day with Tim Johnson going 2-2 with a 2B and an RBI.

Colonial Beach 13, Sussex Central 2
The Drifters scored in every inning and Mason DeLane was 2-3 with a home run and 2 RBIs in the win.

Rappahannock 8, Lancaster 2
Rappahannock got three home runs in the game, one each from Joseph Pierson, Tyler West, and Jordan Hoover. Hoover finished with 4 RBIs and Pierson was 3-4. 

West Point 7, Washington & Lee 3
The Pointers pulled away with five runs in the fifth inning. Landon Kelly threw a complete game in the win and Zac Gonzalez was 2-4 with a home run and 3 RBIs.

 

Region 1D

Holston 25, Twin Valley 0
Holston scored at least three runs in every inning while Carson Blackburn threw a 2-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts.

 

Region 3A

Phoebus 13, Petersburg 2

York 24, Booker T. Washington 0
Three pitchers combined on a 1-hitter and Mark Evans (Hampden-Sydney) was 2-2 with 4 RBIs and 3 BBs.

New Kent 16, Lakeland 2
Riggs Ellis was 3-4 with a 2B and 4 RBIs in the win.

 

Region 4A

Lake Taylor 5, Churchland 4
Lake Taylor scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to come behind and win in a walk-off with Robert Johnson delivering the game-winning hit, driving in Remey Holmes, who had delivered the game-tying hit. Holmes ended up 2-4 in the game. 

Lafayette 14, Denbigh 7
The Rams scored nine runs in the last two innings to pull away. Chase Smith (VMI) was 3-3 with 3 RBIs and Sutton Perozek was 2-4 with 4 RBIs.

 

Region 4B

Courtland 4, King George 3
Courtland walked off into the quarterfinals on an Addie Burrow RBI single. Alex Kobersteen (George Washington) struck out 7 in 3 innings of relief to earn the win while also going 1-3 with an RBI. Kenny Frank struck out 10 while holding Courtland to four hits.

Hanover 5, Chancellor 0
In a game that was split in half by rain, Nick Zona (James Madison) and Cole Wallace combined on a 3-hit shutout. Camden Grimes (Virginia Tech) was 1-2 with a 2B, a BB, an RBI, and 2 SBs.

 

Region 4D

William Byrd 4, No. 1 Liberty Christian 3
Bryce Boothe held LCA to six hits in six innings to earn the win. Tyler Dean was 2-4 and Dylan Hatfield had a 2B and 3 RBIs. Emmanuel Johnson was 3-4 with an RBI in the loss and Wes Clarke (South Carolina) was 1-2 with a 2B, 2 BBs, and an RBI.

Jefferson Forest 12, Pulaski County 4
The Cavaliers scored six in the bottom of the first to put the game away early. Luke Fowler was 3-4 with an RBI and Hunter Morrison was 2-5 with 3 RBIs.

Amherst County 4, Carroll County 3
The Lancers got a strong start from Tyler Hargis, who went 6.1 innings to earn the win as Amherst hung on to win despite a late rally from Carroll. Devin Sandidge was 2-4 and Chris Thomason was 2-2 with an RBI. 

Salem 7, EC Glass 5
Salem came from behind with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to win the game with pinch hitter Caleb Lingenfelter doubling in the tying run and Shane Stallard drove in the go-ahead run in the late rally.

 

Region 5D

Orange County 16, Patrick Henry-Roanoke 4
Christian Koontz hit a home run and Keenan Williams, Tucker Hensly, and Canon Davies all had multi-hit games.

Harrisonburg 7, William Fleming 0
Jose Rocha threw a 1-hit shutout with 13 stirkeouts in the win.

 

Region 6C

Robinson 4, Woodbridge 2
Robinson rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the sixth inning to win and advance. Jack Quinn tied the game with a 2-RBI single in the sixth. Ethan Rothsetein (James Madison) was 2-3 with a 2B and a home run and Alex Lemery was 2-3 and earned the win with 3.1 innings of hitless relief. Woodbridge junior Magnus Ellerts was dominant through the first five innings until the Rams rallied in the sixth.

Colgan vs. TC Williams, PPD

Stuart 22, Annandale 3
Archer Rutledge was 4-4 with 2 RBIs and Quincy Wilkins and Gabe Andreyev each had 3 RBIs as the Raiders advanced.

Woodson 4, Gar-Field 2
Hunter Hoopes (UNC-Asheville) outdueled Marty Neal (Harford CC) in a showdown of top pitching prospects. Hoopes went 6.1 innings allowing just three hits while adding an RBI in earning the win while Chris Dudley went 2-4 and Garrett Laraia (Cabrini) went 2-3. Neal struck out 9 in six innings and Jordan Mayberry had 2 RBIs for the Indians.

West Springfield 15, Hayfield 0
Jared Lyons (George Mason) was 3-4 with 3 2Bs and 2 RBIs and Brett Stallings (Frederick CC) was 2-3 with 2 RBIs as the Spartans cruised into the Quarterfinals.


Region 6D

Chantilly 6, Osbourn Park 2

Centreville 6, Patriot 1
Cristian Sanchez (Virginia) allowed 3 hits in five innings of work and had 2 RBIs. Thomas Trinca was 2-4 with 2 2Bs and 3 RBIs.

Marshall 3, Langley 2
Patrick Halligan (George Mason) threw a complete game, allowing just five hits while also driving in two runs. Danny Hoffman was 2-3 with a 2B. John Eames was 2-4 with an RBI for the Saxons.

South Lakes 2, Osbourn 1
Jack Nathan (Lynchburg) threw a complete game 5-hitter in the win for the Seahawks and Jack Dooley was 2-3 with 2 2Bs and an RBI. Cooper Rosner was also 2-2 for South Lakes and Gabriel Villani was 2-3 for the Eagles.

Oakton 5, McLean 1
This game went to the eighth tied 1-1, with junior Seth Richards (Villanova) throwing six innings of 5-hit ball for Oakton and sophomore Teddy Merritt striking out 7 in 7 innings of 2-hit ball. Sophomore Julian Heitman delivered the go-ahead runs two a 2-run single in the top of the eighth.
