In 2023, our staff would like to take a look at a Virginia/DC high school team that had a big week and earned the honor of Team Of The Week.

This week the award goes to the Steward School Spartans. Steward capped off a 3-0 week in the VISAA playoffs winning a wild Division II State Championship game on Saturday over Greenbrier Christian. The Spartans won both of their games at Shepherd Stadium on Championship Weekend over the top two seeds in the Division II bracket, Highland and Greenbrier. Steward was part of a TCIS sweep of the 2023 VISAA State Championships.

Seniors Michael Lewis (Swarthmore) and Nate Kumper were key to the week for the Spartans. Lewis was spectacular in Tuesday's win over Atlantic Shores and Kumper had a monster day at the plate in the Championship Game.
