VISAA State Quarterfinals

Division I

No. 1 St. Christopher's School 10, No. 9 Potomac School 0
Harrison Coble (Pittsburgh) allowed 1 hit and struck out 9 in 4 innings while going 2-3 at the plate and Camden Nuckols (VCU) struck out the side in a perfect inning of relief and hit a home run. 

No. 2 Benedictine 2, No. 7 Bishop O'Connell 0
Jay Woolfolk (Virginia) tossed a 1-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts while also hitting a home run in the game. Carson Mayfield was strong for O'Connell allowing just 4 hits in a complete game while striking out 5.

No. 3 Miller School 7, No. 6 Collegiate 0
Drue Hackenburg (Virginia Tech) allowed just 2 hits in six innings while striking out 9. Landon Abrahamson (Dayton) had a home run and Laken Tignor was 2-3 with 2 extra base hits.

No. 4 Cape Henry Collegiate 9, No. 5 Trinity Episcopal 4
Cape Henry rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the fifth to win. Andrew Hart and Kenneth Schaedel each had home runs in the victory.

 

Division II

No. 1 Highland School 10, No. 8 Norfolk Christian 1
Eric Wilson (Charleston Southern) threw 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 8 and going 2-4 at the plate. Jackson Gimbel (James Madison) struck out 5 in 2 innings of relief and Ed Wagner (George Washington) and Tyler Kaltreider (VMI) each had 2 hits.

No. 2 Greenbrier Christian 9, No. 7 Isle of Wight 6
Joey Allen was 3-4 with 4 RBIs and Austin Younce (VCU), Luke Culpeper, and Nico Angrisani each had 2 hits for the Gators in the win. Christian Beernot and Trent Holland each had two hits for Isle of Wight.

No. 3 Atlantic Shores 11, No. 6 Fredericksburg Christian 7
Jake Pantak was 2-3 with 3 RBIs and TJ McGowan was 2-3 as Shores took advantage of 8 walks and 5 errors by FCS. Vincent DiLeonardo (Elon) was 2-3 with 2 2Bs in the loss.

No. 4 Nansemond Suffolk 3, No. 5 Steward 2
Brodie Phillips was outstanding in relief for NSA, going 4.2 scoreless innings while allowing just 2 hits and striking out 3. Jordan Crossland (Maryland) had a 2B and an RBI.

 

Division III

No. 1 Walsingham Academy 18, No. 8 Blessed Sacrament 0
Paul Williams and Justin Smith combined on a 5 inning no-hitter, Smith struck out 3 in his inning of work. Trey Christman, Cody Christman, Davis Neighbor, Justin Smith, Ayden Evans, and Sam Villeda each had 2 RBIs in the win. 

No. 2 Carlisle 9, No. 7 Kenston Forest 0
Garrett Kangas (Campbell) struck out 5 in 2 innings of work and Addison Clark (VMI) had a home run in the win for the Chiefs.

No. 3 Brunswick 6, No. 6 Tidewater Academy 5
Brunswick held off a late charge by Tidewater in the seventh to hang on to win. Trey Mitchell threw a complete game for Brunswick while Jackson Smiley and Chris Parrish each had 2 hits while Colby Elliot had a 2B and 3 RBIs. Tanner Drewry was 2-4 with a 3B and 3 RBIs for Tidewater.

No. 4 Fuqua 5, No. 5 Amelia Academy 3
Jacob Barbour went the distance in the defeat, striking out 9 while allowing only 5 hits. Pembleton allowed 2 hits in 6 innings for the Falcons.
