A new week of the Power 25 and we again have a new team in the top spot. Last week’s No. 1, Paul VI Catholic suffered a pair of losses to new No. 7 St. John’s College and newly-ranked No. 25 Bishop O’Connell in extra innings.

Ascending to the top spot is James Madison. The Warhawks are the defending 6A State Champions and have not lost a game in Virginia, only losing twice on their spring trip to Sarasota.

Moving up to No. 2 is Hanover, and No. 3 Greenbrier Christian. New No. 4 Grassfield is still undefeated and Liberty Christian remains No. 5. No. 6 Atlantic Shores Christian had a four win week to remain undefeated as well. All of the top six teams are undefeated in games against opponents from Virginia or DC, with the ones that have lost only having done so on their spring trips.

Back up to No. 7 is St. John’s College, which posted a dominant win over Paul VI last week and moved into first place in the WCAC standings. No. 8 Battlefield enters that Top 10 as the Bobcats’ bats have woken up in the last week to supplement their deep pitching staff.

No. 12 C.D. Hylton is still unbeaten since its loss to Battlefield to open the season, and the Bulldogs will be tested a few times this week with matchups against No. 13 Paul VI Catholic and Forest Park.

Entering the rankings this week at No. 19 is Potomac Falls. The Panthers drew some attention two weeks ago with a win over Millbrook, and they doubled down on that statement with wins over No. 20 Loudoun Valley and again over No. 21 Millbrook last week.

Also new to the rankings this week at No. 25 is George C. Marshall. The 2015 5A North and 5A State runners-up avenged both of those losses last Friday with a win over Stone Bridge. Re-entering the rankings this week at No. 25 is Bishop O’Connell, which won all of its games, including that win over Paul VI, and currently sits in second in the WCAC standings.
