On June 24, the PBR Wisconsin staff will return to The Rock Sports Complex in Franklin, Wis., to host the Underclass Trials. The event, which is open to class of 2022, 2023, and 2024 graduates, will serve as an identifier for the prestigious Underclass Games and PBR Future Games events taking place in late July and early August. This event is still open for registration, and the form can be found at the following link, directly below.

This will be a landmark event as the first-ever PBR Wisconsin showcase to provide participating prospects with access to unrivaled technologies during and following the event, facilitated by our recently announced partnerships with TrackMan Baseball, Blast Motion, Driveline Baseball, as well as Vizual Edge. You can read more about those partnerships and how they’ll enhance prospects’ own post-event analysis under the ‘Our Partners’ section of this showcase’s info tab.

ROSTER PREVIEW

The roster already as 80 prospects set to attend, and counting, and there are many familiar faces among them who we’re looking forward to seeing again. Of the Class of 2022 prospects, middle infielders A.J. Lausten (Hartford) and Camdin Jansen (Racine Lutheran) are among the smoothest defenders headed to The Rock – both are ranked on the state’s ‘22 board, too. We last saw Lausten in the Fox Cities back in March where he was the day’s best defender, with athletic and natural actions, and arm strength fit for the left side. Lausten also swings a loose left-handed bat that enhances his overall profile.

Jansen also has natural actions defensively with a big arm, up to 88 mph across the diamond in March. He’s a right-handed hitter and he repeats it well, harboring some upside to be on the lookout for.

A.J. Lausten (3/8/20)

One of the prospects we’re most excited to see is SS Jalen Gellings (Campbellsport, 2022), since he’d been so productive offensively in multiple in-game looks last summer – though, those marked the last time our staff has seen him. He’d demonstrated an advanced feel to hit with natural bat strength and an athleticism that should help him profile up the middle somewhere.

We’ve yet to see J.T. Kelenic (Catholic Memorial, 2023) at a PBR showcase, and we’re naturally looking forward to seeing his size and strength up close. He’s bigger than his brother Jarred was at this age, and we’ll see how that physicality presents itself from the right-handed batter’s box on Wednesday.

RHP Cole Selvig (Eau Claire Regis, 2023) is one of the incoming sophomore names to know. He was up to 84 mph at March’s Madison event inside of an athletic frame, and he also has shown a real feel for spin. Franklin’s Boston Halloran (2023) is a physical, strong right-handed hitter with bat speed who moves well enough on the infield to project to stick to third base long-term. INF Ethan Hindle (Arrowhead) looks like another ‘23 follow to know ahead of time – he’s an all-around athlete with actions who swings a loose right-handed bat.

SS Brady Davidson (St. Joseph, 2023) is fresh off an excellent performance over the weekend at the PBR at The Rock 15 Championships. For Kenosha Braves, the left-handed-hitting Davidson tallied nine hits, so we’re excited to get a first-hand look on Wednesday.

And SS/RHP Jack Poellot (Living Word Lutheran) looks like an early prospect to note inside this 2024 class. He played up for his club team this past weekend and was up to 79 mph on the mound in a brief relief appearance. He has two-way upside and will be making his PBR event debut at the Underclass Trials.

EVENT ITINERARY

PBR Wisconsin is altering its event itinerary to put some safety protocols in place to limit the number of players in a space at any given time. Players will check in with their positional groups at the instructed times listed below; if a player signed up for multiple positions, they’ll arrive with their first registered group, participate, and they will then need to wait outside of the field to participate with their next registered positional group.

All position players will run the 60-yard dash on the natural outfield grass, and hit and defend on the all-turf infield – metal cleats will NOT be allowed at any station. Pitchers will throw their bullpens on The Rock’s turf mounds.

The check-in times for each position is as follows:

OUTFIELDERS

Check-in: 8:30 to 8:45 a.m.

INFIELDERS

Check-in: 9:40 to 9:55 a.m.

CATCHERS

Check-in: 11 to 11:15 a.m.

PITCHERS-ONLY

Check-in: 11:30 to 11:45 a.m.
