Lyons' Rodemoyer picks school, and other news

One of the top right-handed hitters in the state is off the board after Lyons Township 1B Brian Rodemoyer verbally committed to Illinois State University on Thursday. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Rodemoyer is a big reason why the Lions are ranked No. 5 in the state currently. As a junior, Rodemoyer tallied 7 home runs, 11 doubles and 37 RBI.

Defending Division III national champion Illinois Wesleyan landed two more arms when it received commitments from Hinsdale Central RHP Chris Bobo and Wheeling RHP Matt Hart.

Kurt Kempema, a 6-foot-3 LHP from Schaumburg HS, has committed to Concordia University in River Forest. Kempema is currently 3-1 with a 1.75 ERA this spring. Schaumburg RHP Ryan Hayes also committed to Concordia.

Chris Jordan, an athletic OF/P from De La Salle HS, has committed to Benedictine University.

Illinois Central College landed three prospects: RHP T.R. Dunne (Bartonville Limestone HS), SS Zach McCrery (Galesburg HS) and RHP Ryan Vansaghi (Pekin HS). McCrery has helped Galesburg to a No. 15-ranking this season. As a junior, he batted .465 with 10 home runs, and he holds the school?s career hits record.
