Ladue vs McClure

Ladue HS came out swinging the bats in their first game of the season, posting 11 runs in the first inning, coming away with a 11-3 victory over visiting McClure HS. The eleven run first inning was powered by sophmore C/3B Turner Miller (right), who drove in two runs with a bases loaded double to deep left center in his first at bat, and helped plate another three runs in his second bases loaded at bat of the inning, with a deep drive to right center that was misplayed by the McCluer outfielder.

"I just looked for a good pitch to hit, and put a good swing on the ball," said Miller on his two big swings.

Senior Robbie Gordon picked up the win allowing one run of three hits over three innings.

"I felt good about the win, and getting a chance to get all of our pitchers some work, and our hitters see some live hitting. The boys came out swinging the bats aggressively," said Coach Rob Garrett on the first game of the season.

Malden vs East Prairie

""Standout RHP/C Tanner Murphy (right) threw a complete game shoutout, striking out 15 batters, leading Malden (3-1) to a 4-0 victory over East Prairie.

"I was a bit nervous going into the game," said Murphy on his first start of the season. "I found out this morning that I was going to be starting, and we knew it was going to be a tough game. We had a bad infield before the game with lost of dropped balls. Once the game started, the infield played amazing."

On his 15 strikeouts, "I didn't even think about it. I was just throwing and thinking about what the batters did the last time they were up, and where I could throw the ball to keep them off balance. I got lucky a few times."

Webster Groves vs Eureka

Webster Groves defeated Eureka 4-1 behind a dominating effort by the No. 10 ranked player in the Class of 2012 Peter Fairbanks. Fairbanks struck out nine and had three RBIS to lead Webster Groves.
