Prospect's Landwehr earns Porsche Exchange Player of the Week honors

Jack Landwehr has been the most dominant player in the Mid-Suburban League all season long, and last week he showed exactly why. Not only did the 5-foot-11, 185-pound two-way standout earn two victories on the mound, he came through, yet again, when his team needed him most to clinch the Mid-Suburban League championship.

On Saturday, Landwehr lifted Prospect to the school?s first outright Mid-Suburban League championship since 2003 when the Knights rallied to beat Palatine, 8-7, in eight innings. At the plate, Landwehr went 4-for-5, and delivered the game-winning double in the bottom of the eighth inning to cap the Knights? comeback. Landwehr also pitched the final three innings in relief, allowing one run and two hits while striking out two to earn the victory. In the seventh, Landwehr, whose fastball sat at 85-87 mph, tossed a rare three-pitch inning, and retired five consecutive batters with a combined six pitches.

Landwehr also pitched a shutout victory in the Knights? 13-0 five-inning win over Rolling Meadows, allowing two hits while striking out seven. At the plate, he went 1-for-3 with one RBI. On Wednesday against Hersey, he went 1-for-2 with a double.

Overall, Landwehr is 10-2 on the mound with 84 strikeouts to 10 walks in 58 innings while posting a 2.76 ERA. At the plate, he?s batting .466 with 39 RBI, 13 doubles and two home runs.

The Porsche Exchange salutes Jack Landwehr for his hard work and success.
