Rain Moves Out, Teams Move on to the Final Four

As the rain finally moved through parts of Missouri, Class 1,2,3, and 4 teams began to move on to the Final Four scheduled for June 1-4 at Meador Park in Springfield, MO.

 Class 4

-Ozark defeated Timberland, 8 to 1. Ozark used good pitching, defense, and timely hitting to move on to the Final Four. *Read more about this game*

-Liberty HS defeated Ray-Pec, 12 to 8, in 8 innings, and will take on Ozark on June 3rd. The winner will advance to the Class 4 championship game.

The other Class 4 Quarterfinal games, Cape Central vs. Vianney and SLUH vs Francis Howell will be played on Friday. The winners of these games will face each other on June 3rd.

 

Class 3

All Class 3 Quarterfinal games will be played on Friday, May 27th. The winners of Friday?s games will advance to the Final Four in Springfield, MO to be played on June 3rd.

Class 2 

-Charleston advances to the Final Four by defeating Valle Catholic, 1-0. Senior RHP James Naile threw a complete game to advance Charleston to the Final Four for the first time in school history.

-Clever defeated Cabool, 2 to 1, to advance to the Final Four. David Pennewell picked up the win, striking out 7, while allowing only 4 hits.  Clever Coach Marty Little will be retiring after 28 years of coaching at Clever, and that long career will end in grand fashion at the State finals--a fitting farewell.

-Summit Christian advances to the Final Four by defeating Stockton, 5 to 2. Matthew Verschelden led the Summit offense with a two-run home run.  Summit will face Clever on Wednesday June 1st.

Class 1

-Defending Class 1 Champions, Concordia, were shut out by LaPlate, 9 to 0, advancing LaPlata to the Class 1 Final Four. This is the first time since 2009 LaPlata has advanced to the Final Four. LaPlata will play on June 1st against the winner of the St. Elizabeth/Northeast Cairo contest.

-Liberal will advance to the Final Four after defeating Dora, 7-5.  Liberal?s next game will be on June 1st against the winner of the Oran/Naylor game.
