""Chesterfield, MO: Seckman defeated Parkway West 6-4 on Thursday afternoon. With intermenttent rain showers throughout the course of the game, Seckman?s Trey Meier (right) went two-for-four afternoon with three RBIs to lead the Seckman attack.

Seckman got on the board in the top of the first, with two errors leading to Meier?s two RBI double to right field. Parkway West responded by plating a run after Matt Meyers reached on a fielder?s choice groundout and came around to score on a wild pitch.

Meier struck again in the third, with an RBI single, scoring J.B. Arnold and extending Seckman's lead to 3-1.

Parkway West had their biggest opportunity to score in the bottom of the fifth with the bases loaded and down 3-1, but starting pitcher Tyler McCorlke was able to pitch out of the jam with no runs crossing the plate.

The flood gates opened in the sixth, with Seckman scoring three runs, highlighted by Colin Edwards?s solo home run and a 6-1 lead.

Parkway West didn?t go away quietly. In the bottom of the sixth, West?s catcher Curtis Smith roped an RBI double cutting the lead to 6-2.  West would go on to score two more runs in the bottom of the seventh off of a JC Demuri RBI single and Mullen reaching on a error and coming around to score.

 

In other action:

No. 1 Rock Bridge defeated Kirksville 4-2. Travis Bittle picked up the win for the Bruins.

No. 2 Francis Howell defeated Lindberg 9-5. More to come on this game.

No. 5 Webb City defeated Carthage 4-3. Webb City was led by Tyler Burgess (No. 7 ranked player in the Class of 2011) on the mound and at the plate. Burgess went 6.2 innings allowing two runs and striking out eleven. Offensively, Burgess helped himself going two-for-three with two RBIs.

No. 10 Notre Dame was upset by Sikeston, 8-3. Sikeston was led by Trent McMillan and Nathan Rogers, who each collected two RBIs. Rogers was three-for-three on the afternoon.

No. 11 Kennett was knocked off by Malden HS by a score of 9-4. Current Prep Baseball Player of the Week, Tanner Murphy, allowed two runs and struck out ten batters. Murphy also went three-for-four with and single, double, and homerun.

No. 12 Warsaw was upset by Clinton 11-1. This is Warsaw?s first loss of the season.

No. 18 John Burroughs walloped Whitfield 10-5. Robert Wright went three-for-four with three RBIs and two runs scored to pace the Bomber offense.

No. 22 Westminster was upset by Ladue by a score of 7-3.

No. 25 Willard defeated Republic 7-6 in ten innings.

Strafford beat up on Fair Grove 11-1 in five innings. Cody Lemay went two-for-three with a homerun and four RBIs.

In an offensive outburst, Lebanon outlasted Joplin 16-13. Austin Harris, Dean Long, and Taylor Black homered for Joplin, accounting for eight RBIs between the three of them and six runs scored. Cody Pentecost went four-for-four with three RBIs and three runs scored.
