5-foot-10, 190-pound strong solid build. Above average projectable during batting practice, Poppell had a max exit velocity of 95 mph. Began in an athletic balanced stance with a tight compact load, then used a short controlled stride. Bat speed was explosive above average, used a short flat swing plane and high finish. He barreled up multiple balls with a lot of loud contact. Aggressive gap to gap approach. Solid in the outfield, he showed the ability to make throws to the bases at 79 mph; has a natural lengthy exchange, choppy feet, and sure firm hands. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. From a high ¾ slot, showed decent accuracy to the bag with a short arm action. Showed off his speed at the event, running a swift 6.68 60-yard dash.

Solid from the outfield, his best throws to the bases were registered at 79 mph; showed athletic rhythmic feet, a clean natural exchange, and sure consistent hands. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. Showed decent accuracy to the bag with a high ¾ slot and a short arm action.
