4/26/14 Valparaiso Commit. Ranked No. 44 in Illinois’ class of 2015, No. 197 overall. 5-foot-11, 197 pound frame. Impressive catch and throw ability. Consistently rattled off 1.95-2.1 pop times in pre game and in between innings. Caught runner stealing at second, impressive because he stuck a curveball strike down in the zone with a firm wrist, and still threw 2.0 down to second base. Up to 79 out of the chute. Handled Boricich extremely well, blocking all curveballs down in the zone, no passed balls or wild pitches all day. Hit 9th, grounded out twice.
2/16/14 5-foot-11, 175-pound two-way prospect. On the mound works from a full windup delivery, tall and fall approach. Arm works well, long lose arm action, high ¾ slot. Fastball had slight run, 85-86 mph, touched 87 mph, showed control. Curveball had 11/5 shape, slurve action, 66-68 mph. Changeup has occasional arm side action, mostly down, ranged from 73-77 mph. Also showcased a cut fastball, 78-81, slight action. Behind the plate uses a short over the top arm action, gets carry to target, 73 mph out of the crouch. Posted 1.95-2.03 pop times. Showed above average blocking skills as well as being able to transfer the baseball efficiently. On the infield arm played well touching 87 mph, soft hands similar to that behind the plate. 7.76 runner in the 60.
10/20/13 - 5-foot-11, 170-pound catcher, athletic build. Showed some of the more natural instincts behind the plate at the showcase. Has a solid, athletic setup behind the dish. Receives with a soft hand and strong wrist. Showed off crisp, clean catch and release skills with pop times ranging from 1.98-2.05. Arm played with accuracy and carry, at 77 mph. Offensively, he hits with an open stance and a short stride. Has a line drive swing, bat stays in the zone with length and extension. Showed solid bat speed with an exit velocity of 82 mph off a tee. Ran a 7.57 60.
