1/20/13 - Strong 6-foot, 200-pound two-way player who possesses power tools across the board. Offensively, has potential to be an elite left-handed power bat. When squares up the baseball, the ball explodes off his bat with backspin carry. Registered 91 mph exit velocity off tee. Hits from an open, tall setup with inconsistent bat path and swing mechanics. Showed impressive bat speed through hitting zone and has aggressive overall approach. From the outfield, registered an event-best 87 mph throws at the Illinois Underclass Invitational. Throws were on line with carry. Ran a 7.9 60. On the mound, right-hander topped at 86 mph from high 3/4 slot with effort. Curveball (73-76) and changeup (74-76) lacked consistency.
9/9/12 Corn is a 6-foot-1, 200-pound left-handed hitting two-way player who impressed on the mound. Throwing from an over the top arm slot, Corn was sitting 82-84 mph topping out at 85 mph. He also threw a 74-75 mph curveball with an 11/5 shape and a 76-79 mph changeup. Offensively, Corn is a left-handed hitter who shows serious power. Defensively, Corn was clocked at 83 mph from the outfield.
6/13/12 Corn is a physically advanced 6-foot-1, 200-pound outfielder who showed big-time power potential from the left side. Corn has an explosive lower half and maintains excellent balance throughout contact, getting good extension on his swings. He has an aggressive approach at the plate, creating good whip as he barreled everything up with backspin carry and loft to right field. Defensively, Corn moved well in the outfield, taking good routes to the baseball. He was able to get through the ball and into his throws well, touching 83 from right field. Additionally, Corn ran a 7.42 60.
Corn showed as a dynamic and physically advanced prospect. The 6-foot, 180-pound Corn showcased a solid, accurate arm (78 mph) while playing aggressively though the baseball. At the plate, Corn has juice in his bat. The left-handed hitter displayed some bat speed and raw power potential. Corn showcased a dynamic swing with a strong lower half. For an eighth-grader, Corn is an impressive 6-foot, 180-pound prospect who has a strong frame and interesting upside. At the plate, he demonstrated power potential using his strong lower half and bat speed. He has a level, mechanically solid swing, one which should continue to develop. In the outfield, Corn showcased an accurate arm and moves aggressively to the ball. Overall, Corn�s power at the plate will make him a prospect to watch for years to come.
