At the plate, starts with feet slightly open, weight on his back foot and hands high with a flat bat; has a straight to the ball swing plane; stays on top of the ball well; 85 mph exit velocity. In OF, fields balls cleanly; stays behind fly balls; tracks ball well; stays on top of throws; 83 mph position velocity. At catcher, has a slightly narrow setup, consistent feet and an efficient transfer; makes throws on the bag; 77 mph position velocity. Recorded a 60 time of 7.53. Shows ability to play multiple positions.
2/16/2019: Michael Uhrig, C/OF, Carmel HS, 2020, 6 foot, 175 pounds, ran 7.42 and had an exit velo of 82 mph. Hits from tall set up and uses early hand load and big stride to launch. Barrel is flat at launch and bat path works down to flat. In the outfield, Michael shows arm speed with a medium arm action and a tall outfield slot. Behind the plate he threw 78 mph from the crouch and had pop times ranging 1.91-2.00 with accuracy. Showed good transfer and release with average front side action.
9/10/17: 60 Time: 7.86, Position Velocity: OF-81, C-73, Exit Velocity: 72. 5-foot-11, 155 pound sophomore catcher takes balanced swings from the right side, line drive approach to all fields. Quiet stride to separate with small hand push back to load, front foot lands up on toe at strike, heel down to start hands to the zone with weight shifting onto the front side with small dive. Level barrel throughout and out of zone. Good direction and ability to play through the baseball in the outfield, fields baseball out front. Short, high OT arm action, average carry and accuracy from the outfield. Behind the plate, one hand catch to throw, short, fluid transfer and release. Works left to throw, big arm side run and tail to second base. Sits low to receive the baseball, delivered pop times 2.10-2.12 right of second base.
10/18/15: 5-foot-8, 125 pounder ran a 7.92-60 and was 69 from the OF. Showed the ability to play through the baseball well. Short arm action. At the plate hits from a crouch type setup, loads back. Short stride, average use of the lower half. Average bat speed for his age, level path. Produced line drives during BP. Shows good rhythm in the swing. High exit velocity of 69 mph off the tee.
Behind the plate recorded pop times of 2.45-2.68 and was 62 from the crouch. Up on his toes in his stance, tends to pop straight up. Needs to quicken up his overall actions. Long arm action.
On the mound pitches from a short, 3/4 arm action. Displayed good rhythm with level shoulders. Stays in line to the plate, lands square. Fastball was straight at 66-70. Sweeping breaking ball, gradual break. Changeup was kept down in the zone, but erratic.
