4/12/18 Spring Scout Blog: Ohio signee. 6-foot-2, 220 pound catcher continues to impress in the box.  Present plus bat speed and legitimate home run power.  Has a simple, open setup with short stride.  Tips the barrel in load, has rhythm.  Explosive lower half.  Finished the day 2-3 with a towering home run to center field.  Behind the plate, he has a strong arm and quick release.  Fluid footwork.  Pop times between innings were all 1.91-1.95 with accuracy. 

PBR ProCase - Midwest: Ohio University recruit, currently ranked No. 35 in Indiana’s 2018 class. 6-foot-2, 225-pound right-handed hitting catcher, extra-large frame with strong lower half and wide shoulders. Showed flashes of big right-handed pull-side power in BP. Strong, loose hands, generates bat speed and loft, ball jumps off the barrel with carry. Registered 100 mph exit velocity with wood. Defensively, recorded pop times ranging between 1.93-2.04. Above-average arm strength, 78 mph from the crouch. Moves well for size, ran a 7.22 laser-time 60.

6/20/17 East Cost Pro Showcase: 6-foot-2, 220-pound big, strong framed catcher. Ohio University commit and currently ranked the No. 2 catcher in Indiana’s class of 2018. From behind the plate he has good footwork that will need to be quickened to get him ready for the next level, but arm strength makes up for that at this point. His tool is his bat in which he swings it from the right side with a bat speed/strength combination. Starts from an open stance and really loads up on his back leg striding back to even. He is able to keep his balance throughout his lower half loading sequence and swings with an upward path, finishing with a high, two-handed follow through. Hit a homerun over the left-center field wall during his round of batting practice. During game play he also squared up an upper 80’s mph fastball to deep right-center field for a double.

2017 Spring Scout Blog:  
6-foot-2, 225 pound catcher showed improvement in batters box with more consistent hard contact.  Fluid, smooth rhythm in his load.  Has plus bat speed with legitimate pull side power.  Hit an opposite field home run on a short right field porch.  Barrelled three balls in four at bats.  Behind the plate, arm is strong with a quick release.  Gets into a good slot.  Pops up out of crouch.  Footwork can get long but is quick.  Pop times ranged between 1.94-2.02 between innings with throws having carry.  Sitting lower, showing improved flexibility in his primary setup and receives with soft hands.  Ohio commit.

2/19/17: 
6-foot-2, 215 pound, big, strong frame.  Offensively, hits from an open setup, smooth load, quick hands to the baseball.  Takes aggressive swings with quick bat speed.  Uphill swing plane, produces present power to his pull-side.  Strong lower half, at times gets his backside through.  Maintains balance throughout the swing.  Good approach.  Registered a high exit velocity of 95 mph.  Defensively from the OF showcased good athleticism for his size.  Average foot speed, fluid footwork, soft hands.  Loose, high ¾ arm action.  Throws topped at 90 mph with some carry.  Defensively at 3B showcased soft hands with a clean exchange.  Moves well for his size, fluid feet.  Plays through the baseball with some athleticism.  Shows carry on his throws across the infield, topped out at 84 mph.  . 6/21/16: 
The 6 foot 2 215 pound catcher showcased improved actions at the plate and explosive bat speed.  Gap to Gap pop with fluid rhythm.  Needs to continue to strike the ball more consistently, but has made improvements.  Defensively, Zyon has a quick transfer and good feet.  Pop times were 1.86-1.94 and velo touched 80 on the throws.  

2/21/16: 6-foot-1, 205 pounder registered pop times of 1.93,  1.94 and 2.04; 74 from the crouch.  Possesses a very quick arm action.  Quick, clean transfer.  Feet tend to fall left, but shows some quickness.  Balanced setup, good receiver with soft hands.  Physical right-handed hitter hits form a balanced setup.  Smooth load, leg kick.  Fast bat speed.  Uphill swing plane.  Gap to gap type hitter.  Fluid rhythm.  Possesses power potential.  High exit velocity of 98.  

6/22/15:
6-foot-1, 200 pounds.  Continues to improve each time we see him.  Showcased a good setup behind the dish with some athleticism.  Good balance with the ability to stick pitches well.  Pop times were 1.98-2.07 and was 74 from the crouch.  In the field possesses sure hands with good feet.  Clean exchange and plays through the ball well.  Long, ¾ arm action across the field at 76 with carry.  Ran a 7.11-60.  At the plate hits from both sides, pretty much a mirrored swing.  Hits out of a balanced setup with a smooth load.  Leg kick used.  Good balance with good use of the lower half.  Bat speed is quick with a good approach to  the ball.  Level path and regularly gets to extension.  Consistent hard contact with the ability to drive the gaps.  Fluid rhythm.  Recorded a high exit velocity of 90 mph.

2/22/15: 5-foot-11, 180 pound freshman catcher showcased some athleticism behind the dish.  Narrow stance, good receiver.  On his throws to 2B showcased good feet ,comes through the ball.  Average transfer.  Pop times were 2.15-2.25 and was 74 from the crouch, but lacked arm strength. Showcased average hands in the field at 2B with average footwork.  Needs to improve his angles to the ball.  Short arm action at 78 across the diamond. Switch hitter at the plate, pretty much a mirrored swing from both sides, but showcased a little more pop from the right side.  Starts open with a smooth load back.  Short stride, tends to dive.  Good  balance throughout the swing .  Shows some bat speed with a level path to the ball.  Compact, ability to hit the gaps.  Recorded a high exit velo of 84 from the right side and 81 from the left.   

9/21/14: 
A 6-foot, 175 pound catcher, Avery registered pop times between 2.29-2.40 and was 68 mph from the crouch.  He possesses a strong frame with athletic actions and tons of upside.  Shows soft hands while receiving with a good base.  Needs to improve upon his flexibility and the ability to control pitches.  Switch hitter at the plate. Better from the right-side. Starts in a balanced setup.  The load is smooth and uses a short stride.  Shows good bat speed with a level path to the ball with some pull-side power.    In the field the freshman showcased average hands with a clean exchange.  Across the diamond was 69 mph.  Needs to improve foot speed.  Plays through the baseball well. 

7/29/14:  
6 foot, 180 pounds, 8.43/60, 2.26-2.42 pop time, Strong athletic catcher with long arm action and average hands. Hits from a balanced stance with a fast bat, pull hitter that will hit for power with added strength.
