7/21/20

Foley is a 5-foot-9, 160 pound right-handed hitting two-way prospect. He hits out of a balanced, slightly open stance with the hands in a good position. The load is controlled by a leg kick and gets his weight stacked over the back leg. The swing has an elevated path, with the weight remaining over the back leg. During the batting practice, he showed some pull side pop with a max exit velocity of 91.3 MPH. He also showed real foot-speed with a 6.7 sixty.

Defensively, Foley showed athletic feet and a lively arm in the middle of the diamond. He moves well laterally and gets into a fundamental fielding position. The hands are soft as he transitions through the ground ball. He gets into a good throwing position, in line with the target and shows a max velocity of 83 MPH. He finishes through the play, keeping that direct line with the target.

On the mound, Foley uses a simple, controlled delivery that allows him to pitch on both sides of the plate. The arm is quick out of a short, higher arm slot. The fastball has late arm side run on both sides of the plate and sits 80-82 MPH. The breaking ball is a sweeping pitch at 67-68 MPH.

5-foot-9, 160-pound right-handed pitcher and middle infielder. I like him on the mound, he has a good feel and temperment for the position. The fastball at 79-80 mph with arm side action. The spin pitch is 63-65 and big in shape. He showed a good feel for the changeup and a legit knuckle ball. The delivery is athletic, solid in tempo, online and the slot is slightly above 3/4. The front shoulder can stay online and he could add weight to his frame for the future. The approach in the infield is athletic and aggressive, he threw 81 mph. The feet and glove work appropriately. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 85 mph. The setup is athletic, the bottom half is under control. He shows very good life with the barrel and a short path to the ball. Good athlete across the board.

5-foot-8, 150-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder and pitcher. Ran a 3.93 home to first on the turf at the workout. The approach in the infield is athletic and on times. The feet remain active an he works through the ball. Threw 76 mph across the diamond. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 81 mph. The setup is wide in base, the front foot steps into the swing. The weight is heavy on the front foot. The path is clean and loose to the ball. On the mound, the fastball sat 76-78 mph with arm side run. The spin pitch is 12/6 in shape, sat at 62-63. The changeup is 68-70 with fade and action, needs to be softer in velocity . The knuckle ball is solid, sitting at 65-67 mph. The delivery is online with the feet and above 3/4 in slot. The lift is repeated, coil at the top and the drive to the plate is fluid. The tracking of the front shoulder can stay online longer. Solid skill set overall.

2/18/18

5-foot-7, 130-pound right-handed hitting infielder and pitcher. He had a very good showing at the scout day. On the mound, the fastball touched 74 mph with arm side run. The breaking ball is 64 mph, needs more fastball hand speed to the pitch. The third pitch is a knuckle ball which is good, sat at 66 mph. The delivery is simple, lift and go to the plate. His direction is proper and the tracking is done well. The arm is clean, slightly above ¾ and free. Threw strikes throughout the session and showed feel for his secondary pitches.  Threw 73 mph across the diamond and the approach was done properly. The glove is soft and he moves athletically. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 74 mph. Stance is athletic, the hands work clean and the path is simple. Needs to add strength as he matures. Made solid contact throughout the session.

9/17/17

5-foot-7, 130-pound right-handed pitcher and infielder. On the mound, the fastball touched 70 mph, threw a boat load of strikes and competed. The knuckle ball was his second pitch, came at the hitters a 64 mph. The delivery is simple, pitches out of a plus ¾ slot. The lift is athletic and the direction to the plate is appropriate. The glove side is harnesses well and he stays with his arm throughout. Easy and on time with his feet, see how he progresses as he matures. Defensively, threw 67 mph across the diamond with minimal effort. The prep steps and ability to work through the ball needs to continue to improve. Made all the plays in the game. Tee exit velocity of 75 mph. The set up is even with feet, uses a small pick up and put down of the front foot as the ball approaches. The hands work clean, needs to get stronger physically. Uses a 1-hand finish. Ran a 5.0 down the line on his dig to first base.
