VA/MD State Games
6-foot, 155-pound long lanky build. Athletic confident during batting practice, Chambers clocked an exit velocity of 84 mph. (66.7 mph bat speed average). (17.5 mph hand speed average). Began in a tall narrow stance with a compact load, then used a short controlled stride. Bat speed is present, displays a simple an inside-out swing plane and balanced good extension on his finish. Found multiple barrels with loud contact. Gap to gap tough out approach. Athletic advanced while in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 80 mph; shows a clean natural exchange, soft consistent hands, and athletic fluid feet. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Using a compact arm action, showed consistent accuracy to the bag from a high ¾ slot. Clocked a time of 7.48 in the 60-yard dash. Smooth confident on the mound, showed quick electric arm speed, also used a high ¾ arm angle and a compact quick arm action. Slow-tempo drop-and-drive type pitcher and shows decent effort. Showed an athletic balance point. Lands square with a clean finish. Threw his fastball 82-84 mph; had slight running tailing action and both sides of the plate control. (Max spin 2385; Avg 2332). Showed down in the zone control and hard swing and miss action on his 12/6 curveball (70-72). (Max spin 2045; Avg 2020). Showed fading action and down in the zone command on his changeup (77-78). Has a 11/5 slider (71-73) that shows down in the zone command and hard late action. (Max spin 2056; Avg 2035).
Maryland Top Prospect Games II
Body: 6’0”, 155 pounds. Athletic, leveraged profile with long levers throughout the build.
Hit: RHH. Balanced, controlled, and open stance with slight bend in the knees as the hands showed loosely at the shoulder. Utilized a controlled, short leg lift stride in order to initiate the bat head through a flat path with lift after impact. Stayed behind the ball well and let the hands work out in front of the plate, creating hard contact to the pull-side and ready juice when getting extended. Projects to hit anywhere from 2-5 in the order moving forward.
Power: 91 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Doubles power with extra-base hits to the LCF gap. Quality hitter that can find holes in the field.
Arm: RH. INF - 79 mph. Low ¾, quick release with slight arm-side run on the carry to the glove.
Defense: Gets to the right of the ball and operates downhill through the target on a quality-paced, balanced approach at the fielding window. Gobbles the ball up and transitions at the belt line allowing for repeatable, accurate throws across the diamond from any direction. Ranged well to the backhand side and could beat the ball to the spot while attacking on the run.
Run: 7.41 60-yard time.
Delivery: Stands tall on the bump operating with a short side rocker with pause before lifting up to an average stack position at waist height, then drop/drive outward to a wide land. Showed good chest rotation down through the pitch finishing onto a solid block leg with balance at release. Repeatable mechanics and late hand-break allowing him to hide the ball.
Arm Action: RH. Some late hand break created deception out of a high ¾ slot.
FB: T81 mph, 78-81 mph. Average spin rate of 2072 rpm per TrackMan. The FB could work to all quadrants, effectively missing barrels when elevating as well.
CB: 68-70 mph. Average spin rate of 1801 rpm per TrackMan. Slow, gradual breaker at 11/5 shape.
CH: 73-74 mph. Natural cut and finishes well out in front.
Maryland Freshmen Free Showcase
Body: 6’0”, 155 pounds. Strong, athletic, projectable frame.
Hit: RHH. Hits from a well balanced, slightly open stance at the plate. Smooth, quick back load with some hand separation and a shorter stride. Quick bat speed through the zone with a more level swing path. Stays behind the ball really well with balance throughout and strong lower half involvement. Hands stay inside the ball nicely, creating extension through and past contact with a strong gap-to-gap line drive approach. Strong one-handed finish.
Power: 88 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Power present to the gaps and alleys with more projected as the body continues to fill out.
Arm: RH. INF - 82 mph. Throws with shorter arm action from a mid to high three-quarter slot.
Defense: Plays through the ball well with quick, active feet. Clean, fluid actions, fielding the ball out in front and funneling to the belt with a slide glove tap in exchange. Soft hands with solid range side to side.
Run: 7.54 60-Yard Time.
Delivery: Pitches out of a short, side rocker step. Breaks his hands early in the delivery process. Generates good torque out of his core, with a delivery that is down the mound and in-line with the target. Arm side run was evident on his FB. Also displayed a tight SL thrown in and around the zone.
Arm Action: RH. Quick, buggy whip action.
FB: T82 mph, 79-82 mph. Arm side run. Average spin rate of 2130 rpm per TrackMan.
CH: 77-79 mph.
SL: 71-73 mph. Tight spin. Average spin rate of 1968 rpm per TrackMan.
