2.18.19

A physical 5-foot-10, 195 pounds. Ran a 8.39 60 yard dash. Offensively- Stands in the box in a wide stance with a slight bend in the knees. Displayed a short compact swing with some pop with a 86 MPH exit velocity. Loose hands with a slight leg lift and stays balanced throughout the swing. Defensively- Presents a low target with a wide stance. Quick transfer and release. Displayed accurate throws to 2B. Pop time range 2.08-2.11 and a top velocity of 75 MPH. The 2020 C is a must follow.

Preseason West (Feb. 19, 2018)

Standing 5-foot-9, 185-pounds from a strong body build. At the plate he uses a shoulder with setup, barrel upright with a slight bat waggle, short and compact to the ball with a barrel plane that is slightly uphill, 86 mph exit velocity showing improvement from last year. Defensively, wide set up and receives the ball from a soft glove, uses quick footwork, glove to hand transfer is fast, hand goes to the ear, throws from a high 3/4 slot, 70 mph arm strength from behind the dish, pop-time of 2.09 recorded.

Preseason All-State (February 20, 2017)

Duncanson, a 2020 right-handed hitting catcher, stands at 5-foot-8 and weighs 160 pounds, ran a 8.70 60. Offensively- Starts from a wide square lower half, heavy bend with the knees, with the hands in front of and slightly higher than the back shoulder while the barrel of the bat is nearly perpendicular to the ground. Initiates the swing with a shift of weight to the back leg while the lead foot is elevated and brought back to the back leg with the hands loaded straight back getting slightly lower than and outside the back shoulder. Displayed an ability to drive the pitch middle in and belt high well from the pull side line to the pull gap. With an ability to get more back side drive and not allowing the front hip to prematurely pull out, will increase the exit velocity of 80 MPH shown on the day. Defensively-  Works from an athletic square primary stance with the glove placed above and in front of the left shin guard. Uses a funneling technique to present borderline pitches in the strike zone, with a lot of shoulder movement. With and ability to create more ankle sway and lose hips will be able to receive the ball with a quieter upper half. Transfer is quick from the center of the body, however, the throwing arm gets extremely long and is not in sequence with the lead arm movement, causing the throwing arm to cast away from the body from the power position to the release of the ball. Throws showed quality accuracy, but with a more sequence approached with the throwing arm and front side, throws will dramatically improve carry and improve the arm velocity of 69 MPH as well as a top pop time of 2.09.
