2/11/18

A beast physically at 6-foot-2, 195-pounds. Runs well and arm looks to have improved in the outfield. Skill set profiles him in right field presently with enough athleticism to play left depending on team need. Clegg’s top tool is his bat. The future Buckeye has advanced strength through the zone with bat speed not far behind. Impressive feel in the box with the ability to square the ball up regularly. As he adds loft to swing power should become a more regular part of his game. Very high upside bat that projects to hit for power and average at the next level.

60-yard dash: 6.98

Outfield Velocity: 84

Exit Velocity: 100

6/7/16
6-foot-2, 185-pound athletic, projectable frame. A physically impressive athlete with a ton of tools to work with. Has some fluidity to his loading sequence where he uses a toe turn to incorporate his lower half before taking his hands slightly back. His strength and athleticism show up in his swing as he gets the bat through the zone with impressive batspeed on a level path. Drove balls with authority to the outfield in batting practice. Had a top exit velocity of 94 mph and ran a 6.7 60-yard dash. Worked out in the outfield and at first base. At this stage he is more advance at first base where he brings an unusual amount of athleticism to the position. Moves off the bag extremely well with the ability to play low. Above average glove. Should only get better as he develops feel for the position. An adequate defender in the outfield with fluid footwork and the ability to play through the baseball. Threw to home plate with 83 mph arm strength. Bottom line is the bat plays so his versatility will give the lineup he is in at the next level flexibility.

6/30/15
6-foot-2, 185-pound thinner, athletic body frame. From the crouch he uses good footwork to get himself turned and in line on his throws to second base. He throws with a clean arm action coming from a ¾ slot using 78 mph velocity on his throws to produce pop times between 2.01-2.09. Right-handed hitter starts with his weight slightly more towards his back leg, in a slightly open stance getting himself squared back up to being even. Uses an inward turn with his front foot, landing harder occasionally on his front foot after he strides. Swings with a flatter bat path through the zone, finishing with a one-handed follow through. He reached a top exit velocity of 87 mph and ran a 4.52 out of the batter’s box to first base. On the mound he uses regular effort to his delivery in a slower paced windup. He lands in a straight line at foot strike, finishing with his momentum carrying towards home plate. He uses average arm speed, coming from a ¾ slot. His fastball was between 79-81 mph. His curveball has gradual break to it, with 11/5 tilt at 70-71 mph. He threw his changeup using fastball arm speed at 72-73 mph.

7/29/14
6-foot-1, 175-pound thin, athletic body frame. From the catcher’s position, he can improve footwork by staying more linear, has a tendency for momentum to go towards third base side. He produced pop times between 2.14-2.24 with 73 mph arm strength. Offensively, he starts from a balanced set up, uses inward turn with his front foot, fluid hands back trigger gets close to arm bar, uses both fields and stays inside the baseball well. He squared a ball up to right-field and singled to right-field in two game at-bats. Line drive type production. Reached a top exit velocity of 80 mph and ran a 4.65 out of the box.
