Louisiana State recruit. 5-foot-10, 160-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder. Athletically, ran a 6.98 60 and showed fluid, easy actions in the field. Moves well laterally with soft, reliable hands and above-average arm strength. Arguably one of the best defenders in attendance. Offensively, has a quick, handsy approach. In the game, Hughes showed good hand-eye, putting the ball in play in three at-bats with a pair of groundouts and a lineout to left field.

The Louisiana State recruit stands at 5-foot-10, 160 pounds. One of the best defensive infielders throughout the four day event. Extremely confident and fluid in everything he does. Athletic arm action, ability to throw from multiple angles, plenty of arm to stick on the left side, plus transfer, advanced internal clock, plays extremely well on the move. He made plays at short, third and second, so he can play any three with ease, it seems. Take charge attitude, natural field general. Offensively, a handsy, inside-out approach. He sliced an 88 mph fastball the other way against the Twins Scout Team and had two hits (both to right side) and RBI. Produced an exit velo of 84 mph.
