Class 1A Regional Final

Marissa (19-7) blanked Trico 3-0 behind junior RHP Logan Tabor (7-0). Tabor fired a five-hitter with nine strikeouts at Trico and doubled home the only run the Meteors would need. Tabor lowered his ERA to 1.40 and has 54 Ks in the 35 innings the junior hurler has pitched.

 

The Meteors will meet the defending Class 1A runner-ups, Goreville (20-14) in the Goreville Sectional on Thursday.

 

Mississippi Valley

No. 16 Waterloo (27-3; 7-3) wrapped up Mississippi Valley Conference action with a 13-7 win over Mascoutah (20-12; 4-6). Bulldog seniors Gabe Hopkins and Brad Dillenberger each plated two Bulldog runs. Sophomore Ethan Ruff chipped in with a pair of RBI as well. Bulldog junior ace Cole Schaeffer (7-0) got roughed up for a season-high seven runs but still picked up the win.

 

Nonconference

No. 3 St. Laurence (27-6) won the ?Battle of Burbank? by outslugging Reavis 14-8 on Tuesday. The Vikings were led by their senior C Bryan Villanova, who had three doubles and drove home five Viking runs. The Vikings will open up Class 4A St. Laurence Regional play, against Stagg (13-18), today at 4:30.

 

No. 10 O?Fallon (30-5) romped past Mascoutah 10-0 in six innings on Tuesday night. Panther sophomore Ethan Wild (5-0) allowed four hits in his five-innings of work to pick up his fifth win of the campaign. Senior Rob Bohnensteil and sophomore Jake Jarvis each drove home a pair of runs for the Southwestern Conference champs. O? Fallon will meet East St. Louis (0-16) in Class 4A O? Fallon Regional action today at 4:30.

 

York (22-12) slipped past Glenbard North 4-3. Duke sophomore River Pitlock had two hits and two RBI and Duke senior RHP Joe Paparone (7-3) fired a five-hitter to lead the Dukes past the Panthers.
