Austin Schultz is a 6-foot, 200 lb. big bodied junior catcher.  Behind the plate he is 2.08-2.1 with his pop times.  At the plate is where he excels most.  He displays an advanced approach with a slightly open stance and smooth load.  His stride is short and shows good balance throughout his swing.  His swing is short and quick producing good barrel whip.  He’s a line drive hitter with gap to gap power.   

PBR: As you enter your junior year in high school, where are you currently in the recruiting process?
Austin: I have been communicating with a number of schools and made some visits.

PBR: What are your expectations for the recruiting process?
Austin: I hope to have a decision by the end of the summer or early fall.

PBR: What level of baseball do you see yourself playing at the next level? 
Austin: Right know I am more interested in the school no matter what level and the opportunity to play right away.

PBR: What schools are you most interested in right now, and why? 
Austin: Right now I can't really rate them. I hope to talk more with schools and make more visits.

PBR: What aspect of your game do you believe needs the most improvement?
Austin: I've been at 2 on pop time and need to get it down by working on my mechanics.

PBR: What are your personal goals for the upcoming 2012 season? 
Austin: Help lead my team to a State final and improve on my production at the plate versus last year.

PBR: What are your high school team goals for the upcoming 2012 season?
Austin: Make the State finals in 3A.

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer? 
Austin: The Cincinnati Flames 17u and coach Brian Phelps.

PBR: What is your fondest memory or highlight from your 2011 baseball season (High School or Summer)? 
Austin: Winning Sectionals and beating Brebeuf in the first game of Regionals. Summer was the guys, we had a bunch of great guys on our summer team and I made a lot of close friends. 

PBR: What were your stats for your 2011 HS season? 
Austin: Summer Season? H.S. - .417 BA, .515 OBP, 6 HR, 41 RBI / Summer .484 BA, .575 OBP, 2 HR, 36 RBI.

PBR: What is your GPA? ACT or SAT score?
Austin: If you have not taken it do you have a planned date? 2.6 and I just took the SAT but haven't got the results yet. 

PBR: Have you decided on a major or narrowed it down? 
Austin: Criminal Justice is what I have been considering.
