2013 Prospect Watch: David Hare II

David Hare II, a 2013 prospect from Kings High School outside Cincinnati, is an intriguing prospect to follow next summer.

Hare is 6-foot-2, 165-pounds with an athletic frame that will fill out with time.

During the spring season, he played centerfield for Kings’ varsity team.

However, at the next level, he likely projects as a left fielder or corner infielder.

The right-handed throwing prospect recently registered 78 mph velocity from the outfield at the PBR’s Miami Valley Open ID Showcase.

At the plate, the switch-hitting prospect is a line drive hitter, who keeps the bat head in the zone and shows good bat speed. With additional strength and maturation, he will only become a stronger, more powerful hitter.

If Hare showed a weakness, it was his 60-yard dash time. Registering a 7.5 time, Hare clearly wasn’t satisfied, especially because he has run better times in previous events. Because of his athleticism, one would expect him to show better speed come next summer.

Looking back on the event, Hare says, “I feel like I performed well hitting wise, but I feel I would like to have done better with my outfield throws and 60 time.”

Hare has not been idle this fall.

His schedule has involved several prospect camps at colleges throughout Ohio, including events at Bowling Green and Toledo.

While he is in the early stages of the recruiting process, Hare says, “I want a school that is average in size and located near a city instead of a rural area. I also want a school that has strong academics and an engineering program. I am also considering Army ROTC.”

With the off-season in full swing, Hare is working hard to improve his craft. He notes, “I am always looking for ways to work on baseball, whether it’s hitting in the cage with a friend, by myself off of a tee, or with a coach; lifting/running; or throwing.”

Next summer, Hare will be playing for the 17U Cincinnati Baseball Club with Cary Daniel.
