As we prepare for our 2014 high school preseason coverage, we are going to take a quick glance at teams from across the state.

OUTLOOK:

Hauser Jets head coach Jerry Schoen is expecting improvement in 2014.  Last year's squad finished the season 7-19 overall, and 3-4 in Mid-Hoosier conference play.  This year's Jets return all 9 starters along with 5 arms, however are still a relatively young team overall.  Defense and pitching will be key for the Jets this year.  Senior 1B Jared Compton returns after hitting .300 in 2013.  Fellow senior OF Nick Lortz will be a key piece defensively for the Jets. Versatile player, Rory Thayer, a 5-foot-9 Junior also returns for Hauser this spring.  Schoen is expecting heavy contributions from three sophomores; RHP/INF Jared Schoen, RHP/IF Will Rose, and RHP/INF Nathan Branum.  Schoen was the Jets most consistent pitcher in 2013, while Rose and Branum are both versatile players who have the ability to play multiple positions.
