As we prepare for our 2014 high school preseason coverage, we are going to take a quick glance at teams from across the state.

OUTLOOK:

The Lanesville Eagles are in a rebuilding state after last year's 5-16 record.  Coach Russ McCubbins' squad returns five starters and two pitchers this spring.  Senior Spencer Dauphinee returns after being injured in 2013.  The 5-foot-9, 180 pound RHP/3B earned All Conference honors as a sophomore. Offensively the Eagles will look to Jr. SS Jon Ferree for production.  Ferree led the Eagles with a .325 BA last year.  Junior 2B/RHP returns after leading the team in ERA (3.12) and was second in hitting with a .313 BA.  Leading Coach McCubbins' team behind the plate is 2013 All Conference selection Junior Caleb Gresham.  The 6-foot-3, 200 pound catcher has started every game behind the plate since his freshman season.  Other players expected to contribute are Junior RHP Jake Chanley and freshman INF/P Brenden Bube.  Chanely could potentially become the Eagles ace of the pitching staff.
