OUTLOOK:

The Thunderbirds lost several key players off of last year’s 21-4 team that finished third at the 5A state championship.  This year’s team will be lead by 2nd Team All-State shortstop Dayton Pomeroy who had a big year last season hitting .450 with 10 doubles and 25 RBI.  On the mound they return RHP Austin Higgins who dialed in an 8-1 record and 1.37 ERA in 2013.  RHP Vince Ramos is also likely to be more of a factor on the mound after going 2-0 with a 1.68 ERA as a junior.  The door is definitely open for new faces to emerge and contribute, among them expectations are high for sophomore Dawson Pomeroy, a 6-foot-4, 180-pound switch-hitting catcher who saw limited time last season playing behind a senior catcher.
