2018 Rankings Breakdown: Right Handed Hitters

After a busy winter we have released updated 2018 rankings. As the week moves forward we will look at the top players at each position. Today we take a look at the reports on the right-handed hitters in the 2018 class.

Andrew Stanley, C, Searcy High School
Stanley is a 5-foot-8 165-pound catcher with an athletic frame and build. He is runs a 4.21 home to first. Offensively he starts from an athletic stance, he uses a small hand load, a short stride and a compact swing to produce line drives. He does a sound job maintaining balance through extension, and has shown an advanced feel for the barrel. Defensively he throws pop times 1.97-2.04 accurately, from a short arm action. He receives with proper angles and soft hands. He shows solid technique and a high motor during blocking drills. Overall Stanley is an advanced hitter with solid athleticism that will allow to play a secondary position if necessary. 

Stanley is the 10th ranked player in the 2018 class rankings, the No. 1 catcher. He is committed to Arkansas.

Nathan Lyons, 3B, Bentonville High School
Lyons is a 6-foot 185-pound infielder with a athletic frame and a physical build. He shows advanced offensive ability with fast bat speed and a consistent feel for the barrel. He starts from a balanced stance, he uses a slight leg lift as his load, he swings with a line drive swing with a high finish. He consistently works to the pull side with hard contact. Defensively he plays through the baseball, with a normal exchange showing off an accurate arm with carry. Overall Lyons is a solid player with an advanced feel for the barrel.

Lyons is the 14th ranked player in the 2018 class rankings, the No. 1 third baseman. He is committed to Little Rock.

Jack Stroth, C, Conway HS
Stroths is a 5-foot-10, 180-pound backstop with an athletic frame. He is a solid defender with pop times consistently in the 2.01-2.11 range. He blocks and receives with solid effort and technique. Offensively, he starts with an athletic stance with a slight load and stride. He attacks the baseball with a quick bat and remains balanced through extension.

Stroths is the 16th ranked player in the 2018 class rankings, the No. 2 catcher. He is currently uncommitted.

Kam’Ron Mays-Hunt, MIF, Bentonville HS
Mays- Hunt is a 5-11 170-pound athlete with a medium frame and an athletic build. At short-stop he has smooth footwork and soft hands as he plays through the baseball. He throws from a low ¾ arm slot with high end arm strength. Offensively he uses a balanced stance with minimum load and stride, he uses a line drive swing with normal bat speed. Overall Mays-Hunt is an advanced athlete with raw baseball skills, if he refines his game, he may be one of the elite players in the class.

Mays-Hunt is the 20th ranked player in the 2018 class rankings, the No.3 Short Stop. He is currently uncommitted, he also is being recruited as a NCAA Division I football player.

Aaron Mann, CIF, Central HS
Mann is a 6-foot-4 210-pound corner infielder with a large frame and an athletic build. He is an advanced offensive player with a raw power. He starts from a tall stance, he from an athletic stance, he uses a slight hand load and stride. He attacks the baseball with a slight uphill swing. He has a feel for the barrel and makes consistent loud contact. Defensively he plays through the baseball with some stiffness, he has an elongated exchange and throws the baseball accurately across the infield. Overall Mann is a physical player with advanced offensive ability.

Mann is the 23rd ranked player in the 2018 class rankings and the No.1 third baseman. He is currently uncommitted.
