For the beginning of the year, we are doing a quick update to the Maryland 2018 and 2019 rankings. With both classes we have updated the top part of the rankings to coincide with the new updated overall rankings with new inclusions. In early March we will have a complete update to the Maryland rankings for these classes as well as an update to the 2017 class and our initial 2020 Maryland rankings release.

The 2020 class will be one to keep an eye on, especially after the Freshmen Free Showcase coming up on January 21 at Athletic Performance Inc. Already there is a full list of participants (CLICK HERE to see the current roster) and spots are still available (CLICK HERE for more info).

Yesterday we started it off with our update to the 2018 class and today we look at the 2019 class. Tomorrow we will take a look at a few of the players that will see themselves in the 2020 rankings.

Adjustments were made to the top 10 of the 2019 rankings with a few new players entering the rankings after a strong showing late in the summer and fall season. Maintaining the top two spots are Red Lion Christian RHP Nathan Hardcastle at No. 1 and newly committed to Duke, RHP/SS Thomas Keehn of DeMatha Catholic at No. 2.

New faces to the rankings are Clark Burroughs and Chase Burroughs (no relation) of DeMatha (Clark) and Chopticon HS (Chase). Clark is just another in a talent laden underclass group at DeMatha and Chase has been getting plenty of attention with his advanced ability already behind the plate and his developing skill on the offensive end.

Another new face is RHP Marty Sawyers of Southern HS, a durable framed arm with more in the tank and impressed during the Rawlings A’s team workout day in September.
