Prep Baseball Report

2022 All-PBR Team

PBR Staff

Prep Baseball Report is excited to announce the First Team All-PBR. Yesterday, PBR announced the PBR State Player of the Year in 42 states. On Thursday, we will announce the 2022 PBR Player of the Year.

The First Team All-PBR consists of 13 athletes from across the nation who rose above the competition and stood out at their respective positions. These athletes made a strong impression on the Prep Baseball Report staff during the spring season both offensively and defensively on the baseball diamond. The athletes were nominated by the Prep Baseball Report staff and scouting directors across the United States.

The athletes below have earned their spot on the All-PBR roster.

Catcher: Brooks Brannon, Randleman HS, NC (2022)
Brannon, a North Carolina recruit, helped the Tigers to a 2-A state title for the second straight year and took down some state records in the process. In 34 games, he hit .609/.644/1.331 with 17 doubles, two triples and 20 home runs while driving in 91. His 70 hits is a new mark by five and he bested the RBIs record by 29. While he finished in a tie for home runs, it couldn’t be more fitting as he now shares that honor with his father, Paul Brannon.

First Base: Xavier Isaac, East Forsyth HS, NC (2022)
As a freshman, Isaac played in 26 games, but then only saw action in eight between the 2020 cancellation and an injury in 2021. The Florida recruit returned to the field this spring and showed no signs of rust, dominating opposing pitching to the tune of .578/.708/1.297 with six doubles, two triples, 12 home runs, 28 RBIs and 36 runs scored. He also drew 29 walks to just eight strikeouts and stole 11 bases.

Middle Infield: Jackson Holliday, Stillwater HS, OK (2022)
In 40 games, Holliday hit .685 with 29 doubles, six triples and 17 home runs. The Oklahoma State recruit had a total of 89 hits, eclipsing the national mark in a season by one. The record was previously held by J.T. Realmuto, a fellow Oklahoman. Holliday’s 52 extra-base hits gave him a slugging percentage of 1.392 and he also drove in 79 runs. He drew 33 walks, struck out just seven times and swiped 30 bags.

Middle Infield: Jett Williams, Rockwall-Heath HS, TX (2022)
A Mississippi State recruit, Williams led the Hawks to a state semifinal appearance by hitting .411 with 10 doubles, eight triples and seven home runs with 41 RBIs and 53 runs scored. He also drew 35 walks and stole 24 bases.

Third Base: Judd Utermark, Charlotte Christian School, NC (2022)
Brannon wasn’t the only North Carolina resident to go on a power binge, as Utermark set a school record with 18 home runs. On the way to the Knights’ 17th NCISAA title, the Mississippi recruit hit .448/.591/1.115 with eight doubles, a triple, 46 RBIs and 52 runs scored.

Outfield: Drew Burress, Houston County HS, GA (2023)
Burress was the driving force behind the Bears’ offense, accounting for more than a third of their runs with 73 RBIs and 45 runs scored. The Georgia Tech recruit hit .486/.557/1.081 with 11 doubles, two triples and 17 home runs. He also stole 10 bases and walked 20 times in 34 games. Burress’ 73 RBIs was one shy of the state record, but the most by 15 since high schoolers started using BBCOR bats.

Outfield: Max Clark, Franklin HS, IN (2023)
One of two juniors on the All-PBR team, Clark has another year to wreak havoc. The Vanderbilt recruit batted .577/.717/1.126 with eight doubles, two triples and nine home runs while driving in 32 and scoring 41 runs. He also drew 31 walks, struck out just three times and stole 22 bases.

Outfield: Druw Jones, Wesleyan School, GA (2022)
The Wolves claimed the 1-A Private title thanks, in part, to Jones’ big year with the bat. The Vanderbilt recruit and son of former major leaguer Andruw Jones hit .570 with seven doubles, three triples, 13 home runs, 72 runs scored, 39 RBIs and 32 stolen bases.

Pitcher: Eli Jerzembeck, Providence HS, NC (2022)
As the ace for the 4-A state champions, Jerzembeck racked up an astonishing 195 strikeouts over 87.1 innings, while walking just 14 and allowing 37 hits. A South Carolina recruit, he finished the season 13-0 with two saves and a 0.42 ERA.

Pitcher: Jacob Miller, Liberty Union HS, OH (2022)
Liberty Union reached the Division III state semi-final behind Miller, a Louisville recruit, who logged 57.1 innings and went 8-1 with one save and a 0.49 ERA. He struck out 133 and walked just 11.

Pitcher: Brock Porter, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Prep, MI (2022)
The Eaglets finished the season 44-0 and while they were an offensive juggernaut, they typically only needed one run to win Porter’s starts. The Clemson recruit went 8-0 with a 0.27 ERA in 51.2 innings, allowing just nine hits and 23 walks while striking out 109.

Pitcher: Robby Snelling, McQueen HS, NV (2022)
Snelling, a Louisiana State recruit, set a state record for strikeouts with 145. In 62.1 innings, he logged an 8-0 record, 0.56 ERA and walked only six batters all season.

Utility: Owen Murphy, Riverside-Brookfield HS, IL (2022)
While most top prospects play on both sides of the ball in high school, Murphy is a legitimate two-way threat at the next level and showed that this season. He hit .548/.657/1.288 with 15 doubles, four triples and 18 home runs, including three grand slams, while driving in 75, second most in Illinois history. He also scored 59 runs, walked 34 times and struck out just six. As impressive as that line is, his pitching line takes it to another level. In 58.1 innings, he went 9-0 with a 0.12 ERA. He allowed just 10 hits all year, tossing four no-hitters and two perfect games. He struck out 137 and walked four, one of which was intentional.
