Game One vs Kentucky
Team TN got off to a slow start in what would be a sloppy game due to high volume of walks on both sides, but they would rally late in the eight inning contest to draw an 8-8 tie to open up the 2022 PBR Future Games. ‘24 2B/1B Brady Cooper (Rossview; 2-3 w/ two singles) and ‘24 SS Cade Batchelor (Maryville; 2-2 w/ double + triple) would lead the offense. ‘24 SS Wesley Alig (CAK), ‘25 SS Alexander Peck (USN), and ‘25 C Baylor Osborne (Mt. Juliet) all drew a pair of walks. On the mound, ‘24 RHP Caden Shanks (Upperman) got us off to a good start tossing two frames with three strikeouts and one run allowed (solo HR). Shanks touched 90 and had good feel for his off-speed pitches. ‘25 RHP Aidan Niggl (Mt. Juliet) faced some adversity, allowing five hits, but limited the damage to one run with a pair of punchouts.
Game Two vs Utah
Day two was much cleaner baseball as it was a back n forth matchup with Utah, highlighted by some outstanding pitching. ‘24 RHP Stratton Scott (Farragut) was excellent in the first two innings, working 84-86, T87 and good feel of hard SL. He allowed one hit, no runs, and had a pair of strikeouts. ‘25 RHP Grayson Burleson (Summertown) followed by going two innings, allowing two singles, one run, and a pair of strikeouts. The rising sophomore was up to 89 with the FB and kept hitters off balanced with low 70s CB. ‘24 LHP Roman Petricca (Mt. Juliet) tossed the quickest inning in Future Games history (6 pitches), and an unfortunate lost ball in the lights allowed two runs to score in his second inning of work. The southpaw was 83-85 w/ feel for a high spin SL and had three strikeouts. Offenseively, seven TN batters picked up a hit, highlighted by ‘24 OF Donovan Mitchell (Houston; double), ‘24 SS Wesley Alig (CAK; double), and ‘24 OF Ben Timblin (Signal Mountain; double). Ultimately, late defensive miscues gave Utah the 7-3 victory.
Game Three vs Arkansas
Things got off to a strong start as ‘24 RHP Bridger Hamilton (Sevier Co.) put up a zero, then ‘24 3B/OF Brooks Jones (MTCS) doubled and later scored on ‘25 UTL Malachai Halterman’s (McGavock) RBI single. A costly error in the second allowed Arkansas to put up four runs, but the arms settled in after that. ‘24 LHP Lake Morris (Hendersonville) twirled two scoreless frames w/ a pair of strikeouts. The southpaw worked 83-86, T87 w/ a wicked biting SL (Up to 2800s rpm). ‘24 RHP Beau Revord (Jefferson Co.) tossed two scoreless himself, while running the FB up to 91 and inducing a lot of weak contact. Offensively, 5 TN hitters picked up a base hit, highlighted by ‘24 C Bradley Pippin (Riverdale; solo HR) and ‘24 Brooks Jones (MTCS; double). The offense left some chaces in the 2nd, 3rd, and 6th with runners in scoring position less than two outs, but the game was called in the top of the 7th due to lightning/rain, falling 4-2.
