2025 Rankings Update: 20 Picks to Click

In looking ahead to the 2024 season, below are 20 players from the top 100 who might rise even higher. Their prospect statuses have been well-established now, and the upside is evident. This spring will provide ample proving ground as each looks to establish himself as an impact player in the class.

20 'Picks to Click'

Quentin Young SS / 3B / Oaks Christian, CA / 2025

Rankings, State: No. 2| Overall: No. 3

(Debut) #6: In the biggest move of the fall, Young reclassified from his 2026 standing to join the ranks of a loaded junior class for ‘25. The 6-foot-4, 200-pounder was the most impactful prospect in closing out the summer in a mix of underclassmen, and is impossible to miss when scanning the diamond both for his imposing frame and agile movements. A present and future impact bat, Young bolsters an already star-studded junior class and has the tools necessary to rise to the top spot over time.

Josh Hammond RHP / SS / Wesleyan Christian Academy, NC / 2025

Rankings, State: No. 2| Overall: No. 10

#16→#10: The MVP of the Prep Baseball All America Game, Hammond did his best to kick the can down the road: is he better on the mound or as a position player? Regardless of where the industry (namely the selecting club) lands on the issue, his ascension into the top 10 in the class is nearly equal parts electric talent as it is consummate professional with a tunnel vision set on domination. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound right-hander is built with some explosive strength and athleticism with downright vicious stuff on the bump that includes an electric, mid 90s fastball along with what might be the best secondary pitch in all of high school right now, a tight, late-breaking slider. But his potential as an impact bat and left side defender is too hard to pass up right now, and it seems almost certain that Hammond’s name will ultimately be called as a two-way.
