OUTLOOK:

After a successful season that ended with an area championship and a state playoff run to the quarterfinals, the Choctaws of Coach Kevin May look to continue those winning ways in 2020. This year’s version of the Choctaws will be a very young group that lacks experience but have developed good team chemistry in the off-season. Sophomore LHP Steven Cash is back to bolster the pitching staff after a very impressive freshman campaign in 2019. The southpaw shows high level command of three pitches, including a fastball in the low 80’s. Cash will also double as an outfielder. Junior 1B/3B Cade Horton shows elite power at the plate and is an extra base hit machine that can play either corner infield position. SS Brody Seales is a senior that defends at a high level on the dirt and is also a nice runner while sophomore C Bo Burkes will join Horton to give the Choctaws two big time run producers in the lineup. Burkes could eventually move to 1B in the future. These four mentioned look to lead a young roster in 2020 as the Choctaws will look to several young players to contribute this season. 2B Baylor Hughey, 2B/3B Brian Fuller and OF/RHP Cole McCarty are all juniors that are being counted on this season. Another sophomore, RHP Dillon Williams, should contribute on the mound this year. Two freshman, RHP Chris Billingsley and C John Downs, are also part of the plans this year. Although Bibb County is relatively young this year, there is some talent on hand for the Choctaws to build off of last season’s success.
